Default Biggest M*A*S*H Disappointment

I'll have to go with Hawkeye NOT getting to eat the ribs in "Adams Ribs".

For my money????......I wish I could have seen him with sauce all over his face wonderin' how in the world he could have forgotten the coleslaw.

Great episode.

One of my all time favorites, but I think they cut it down a little; I remember Hawkeye dancing in the mess tent, decreeing "we want something else"....and i didn't see any of that last night.

Definaltey Henry being killed off...Col. Potter's okay, but after that it was just a totally diferent M*A*S*H! Radar leaving was another big one.

Well, for me it would be that Wayne never really had a good bye episode. I completely understand and everything, but Trap deserved that much at least.

I agree with that one. I would liked to have seen more of him after Henry's death. Because once the death was announced, we just saw Trapper, with his mask on, in the operating room.

I also agree with the first post. I hate that ending, where he doesn't get to eat the ribs. I mean he suffers enough on a daily basis - give him the ribs!

I also would have liked to have seen Trapper get a proper farewell. Personally, I'd be a lot happier if he never left the show in the first place.

I also think poor Hawkeye should have gotten to dig into those ribs.

Henry's death on the way home was a major disappointment. I wouldn't have changed that ending though.

I think the way they handled Franks departure was a little lame too. They could've given him a few special guest star spots like they did Gary Burghoff (with the obligatory larger font as well) but I think the whole thing rang false to me.

I think there are hits of how dangerous the Frank character could be toward the end of Season 5. I think the way they handle his small breakdown in the episode where Hot Lips gets engaged is well done. However, in the movie...the Frank character really loses it and gets hauled away in a strait jacket. In the series, his actions happen all off camera and they talk about all these lame things that he's doing which to me is a jumping of the shark of some sorts. You know what I mean?...where characters start inventing things they used to do or old nicknames or old school buddies with terrible nicknames as a plot contrivance.

I just thought the Frank characters departure desevered a bit more respect and you see only glimpses of it, unfortunately. I think Larry Linville would've done a great job and it would have made a better point about another tragedy of war which is the direction the show was going in anyway. I just thought after Hot Lips got engaged, the Frank character was wasted. He became more childish and less menacing. He'd walk in the swamp, irritate Hawkeye and BJ, and then be told to get lost.

I also agree...Trappers departure could've been handled better and again, another lame off camera explanation of what happened.

ok yeah i agree with some of ya! i mean yeah ok maybe the could have had more on the whole Henry leaveing and yeah it did sort of go down hill when Radar left too! but guys the only reason that Frank wasn't at his own "written out thing" was because he was too sick to do it remeber i think they all said something about him being in the hospital or something like that! so you see thats why it was so "lame" cause Frank couldn't make it in! now maybe they could have done it before hand but.....anyway and yeah they could have made trapper leaveing a bit better i mean i don't know why he didn't stick around but i think it would have been nice if Hawkeye could have gotten a chance to say good bye to him or something! but he did give Hawkeye a "kiss" lol that was funny!

I like the idea of showing how Frank's breakdown could have been another example of the horrors and tragedies of war...it would have brought the point home more I think.

I agree with Trapper not getting a proper send-off. That was a big bummer. I blame that more on Wayne Rogers' decision to leave than I do Gelbart, Reynolds; et. al.

For watchers of the earliest MASH eps it maybe both the disappearance of Lt. Dish (she's actually the lady in just about all the opening credits whose running with Hawk to the helicopter) and the explained disappearance of nurse Margie Cutler (Hawk lied and told her he was married). The two ladies were good characters and at least somewhat hot. A third rate disappointment is certainly we never got in any way to meet Daniel Pierce, Hawk's dad (not even in the creepy Dreams ep).

Hawk could have had Igor reheat the ribs after they did surgery and then he ate them.
