Need Opinions ASAP: Home Dinner Hangout?

What is your opinion on this?

I just came back from Wal-Mart with some hot food at the deli (tender chicken strips, mashed potatoes and gravy, fried okra, and cherry cheesecake mashed up). I am looking at with a thought in my mind. I would like to invite the guy I like over for a home dinner hangout. You know, eating the dinner, talking, and maybe watching some TV.

But....I don't know. What does it appear to you guys? Does it sound too date-y? I just wanted this to be casual and just for him to come over and eat and hang out. Maybe play a board game and watch TV or something. I want it to be casual and fun.

I need opinions ASAP. Yes or no to invite him tonight?

Mona, this is probably not what you want to hear, but I think that inviting him over for dinner at your house is not a good idea. I think dinner at somebody's house is intimate in a way and I don't think you and he are far enough along in your relationship for this yet. I think at this point dinner in public is a better idea.

Yeah, it was funny because I was just staring at that hot dinner and just had that inkling to just invite him over and stuff. I guess within time, that could happen. I want him to come over sometime and hangout. I have board games and movies to watch and stuff. Stuff I would ordinarily provide for friends.

It was probably a good thing that it didn't happen. Give it time, like you said.

I think I'll come over for that hot dinner, Mona. It is waaaaaay to cold here in Illinois. If I drive really, really fast I think that I should be able to arrive in New Mexico by dinner time.

I think you should invite him next time, but to play it down, invite some other friends too. So it doesnt seem as 'datey', but rather a fun hangout.

You know...I hadn't thought about this when I created the thread on Friday, but I have thought about it in the past. This is a good idea. The only problem I have with it is the people I know. Some work friends are usually busy basically have to be "penciled in" just to hang out outside of our work. Others have babies, so it would be quite uncomfortable to socially mix them, especially if it's done last-minute. I want some hangout friends. Right now, this guy is probably my only "hangout" friend, per sé. Even with him, you all know how it hasn't been as easy to hangout with him since we last hung out in person in early December. That's two months ago today! Wow...time is flying.

Soooo....I thought maybe a "game night" might sound nice. It would just have to be planned and even having me cross my fingers he isn't shooting a sports game/fight on a given evening. *sigh* How much I dream and daydream....
