different than what really happened. For example,
As a kid, when I watched "The Monkees" on N@N, I had remembered Mike wearing a green hat for most of the show, then changing to a blue hat, and then not wearing a hat at all. This all before Mike left the show all together. I knew they didn't do the show long after he left. I believed it to have been that way growing up. Then in 1997, "The Monkees" sort of made a comeback and aired on N@N again, and also on VH-1. And I realized that that was all wrong. Mike never left the show. He was absent for maybe four or five episodes, but those were scattered through the second season. He did wear a green hat for most of the run, and switched to a blue one for two episodes, then got a new green on, with buttons. He also quit wearing a hat early in the second season. So I remembered Mike's hat situation almost correctly. As a kid, I wasn't a huge fan of "Happy Days." So I got some of the history of it wrong. I was under the impression that Richie was in most of the show (which he was) but that in his final season, he had a mustache. I thought that the episodes "Welcome Home" was part of his last season, and that it was his last episode. I had seen the reunion special and that goodbye scene between Richie and Fonzie. They didn't show the beginning of the episode where Richie came back. So when N@N started airing the show, I was surprised to see that Richie didn't have a mustache in his final season. I was also surprised to see that episode show up in the 11th season. Another one, this one more recent. I was under the impression that Joseph-Gordon Levitt had left 3rd Rock completely in the final season, making only three or four guest appearances. Then when I got the DVD, I found out he was only absent for 8 out of 20 episodes. These are little things, but it's just weird how I twisted what really happened with what I made up in my mind as a kid. |
