Apologies if someone has posted this already.
But below is a link to a website run by the younger sister of Cindy James, Marilyn Hack, who's about to publish a new book on the case. The site includes an interesting blog. (Cindy James was the Canadian nurse who was stalked and attacked including physically for seven years before turning up dead; police in Vancouver remain convinced she staged the whole thing; friends, family, her psychiastrist, and others are convinced it was genuine; prior to her death, James suffered several incidents of depression and nervous collapse, apparently due to her torment. Detractors, of course, point to the psychiatric problems as evidence she was disturbed and that the attacks were self-inflicted). Someone in another thread has referred to jurors at James' inquest suffering nightmares after hearing tapings of some of the harassing phone calls she received. WARNING - One such call is on the website. Chilling as it is, I have to say, in all honesty, that it sounds like a woman's voice being disguised, and the allegation has always been that James was being stalked by one or more men. Anyway, those interested in the case - and I think it's a UM classic - have a look and listen for yourselves: http://www.melaniehack.com |

Um, hi, that recording was SCARY even if it was Cindy herself leaving it. It is definately a woman's voice.
Ok, that recording really got to me, seriously! |

Wow, thanks for the info! I've thought about Cindy's family alot over the last several years. I guessed that they probably wanted to put this behind them and not even discuss it anymore. Good for Melanie!
I can't wait to read the new book. (I lost track over how many times I read the other two books.) |

Holy crap, you guys. I only got through the first two or three seconds of that call. I cannot imagine getting a message like that on my machine... I'd freak out. It's not even my message, and I'm freaking out NOW...

That's quite a sight. I only wish videos were provided with the audio news clips. I never saw the case on a Current Affair. And what is W5? Maybe some Canadian broadcast show?

Wow...just a shout out to everyone. After visiting the sight for Cindy, I e-mailed her sister Melanie and told her about this message board. I told her how many times, we have had family members and friends of the people featured come here and give us updates on these cases and I told her to feel free to post any time if she feels like it. (I also provided her a couple of direct links to posts where we all discussed the case)
Well, Melanie wrote me back and wanted me to share this with the rest of you. (Pretty soon, she says she will post as well!).... Here is the e-mail - Wow, Andy, I had no idea. I just read through the postings of 2005, and the recent ones you generated with your link to my site. Thank you for that link. I will be posting a response as soon as I figure out how to do so and have some spare time. If you wish in the meantime, I have no problem with you passing on the following and letting everyone know I personally respond to e-mails. As I have mentioned to some of those people who have contacted me through the www.melaniehack.com website, The TRUE or FULL story, not the ones that the recipient public has so far received, has only been told by me. For several years I have thoroughly researched every aspect and miniscule detail of Cindy's life and death (I have all the police and medical files, etc, and I sat in the front of the courtroom during the inquest, and I uncovered new evidence that was hidden). My book is based on new factual evidence presented in a riveting, respectful and compassionate way -- with a knock your socks off ending. It is so critically important that avid followers realize a distorted view of events was presented in both Neal Hall's, The deaths of Cindy James, and Ian Mulgrew's book. The public, and especially my cherished sister, Cindy, deserves more than a sensational version of other's people's speculated ideas of the truth. Neither Neal's book nor Mulgrew's book incorporated any of the insights so critical to understanding exactly what went on as Cindy's world crumbled around her. And, most people probably do not realize that one of the police officers (diagnosed with a personality disorder) involved in Cindy's case, was charged in 1993 for assaulting women after investigating B+E's, and went to jail. The Province newspaper wote about it in July of that year. And there are other interesting facts that throw other twists into the mystery of Cindy's death...absolutely amazing...the mystery deepens! Thanks, Andy, for your best wishes to my family -- I passed it along. Warm wishes, Melanie |
