Grandpa was apparently illiterate. I remember an episode in which he broke down in tears because he couldn't read something that Webster had given him to read. I still find it hard to believe that a man of obviously modest income (I assume that George didn't grow up in poverty) could be illiterate for that long. What was Grandpa's occupation? Or was this just some lame "pro literacy" episode?

If memory serves, wasn't Grampa also the same grampa on "The Wonder Years?" If so, that's also the man who played Santa Claus in "Santa Claus: The Movie," co-starring Dudley Moore.
