Were these any good. I know they got Americanized into: "Three's Company", "The Ropers", and "Three's a Crowd".

"Man About The House" is one of my all-time favorite shows, as is "Three's". Being the original, expect some differences such as names and places. I find TC a bit more wacky and exaggerated, although, Richard O'Sullivan as Robin Tripp (the Jack character) definitely shows you how the American producers were inspired to take John Ritter with the physical comedy. At the same time, Brits were allowed to be a little bit more risque with things such as Robin having a lamp with a woman on it that, when turned on, shows her breasts and underpants.
In this case, the brunette is named "Chrissy" and the ditsy blonde is "Jo". The landlords are George and Mildred Roper. But many of the situations are the same. If you see the first episode in particular, you'll see that the first episode of TC is very similar, especially Robin asleep in the bathtub and tripping all over the place. If you "get" British humor, I think you will really like the show. I've yet to see "George and Mildred", but I've heard that it is even superior to MATH. "Robin's Nest" I'm told is not as good as either one. But neither was the second spinoff of TC and I didn't think "The Ropers" was as good as TC. If you want episodes of MATH, check ebay.com I know a guy there that sells a 4-episode tape as well as other Britcoms. The MATH feature-length movie shows up sometimes too. ------------------ Visit me at http://www.golittlerecords.com |
