Question Has anyone here ever seen Man About the House?

Has anyone here seen the show that Three's Company was based on, Man About the House? If so, was it better and as funny as Three's Company? Or worse? Were the characters of Man about the House and Three's Company characters similar?

They actually showed this series on regular TV years ago, when the show first went into syndication. Infact, they used to show Three's Company and Man About the House back to back. It was very similiar, but it's hard to remember that long ago to give you specific details.

I've seen scenes from Man About The House, but I've seen full episodes of it's spin-off, Robin's Nest, and it's nowhere as good as 3's.

Cool

There's another spin-off from Man About The House - 'George & Mildred'. Much funnier than the original series and streets ahead of the inferior 'Robin's Nest'.
Yootha Joyce (RIP) as Mildred was brilliant in the role.

Also, Leslie Sands died this year. He played Mr. Tripp on Man About The House.

I got some info on the three:
Man About the House
1973-76
I've seen pictures of this just a while ago and the girls were UGLY!And they have "Jo" not "Janet"!And Chrissy's last name is Plummer! If you ask me judging from the pictures 3's is better but it would be a real treat to see it!Along with other britcoms!(I'm watching Are You B-ing Served? right now on PBS!)

George and Mildred
1976-79
I saw some pix of Yootha and Brian (George and Mildred) and they look almost exactley like Audra and Norman!

Robins Nest
1977-81
It is weird because 3's premiered the same year this did!I saw a pic of Vicky and Jack and Vicky was a blonde.

It is weird how Man About the House ended.I saw a episode guide and it said Jack excuse me Robin's brother Norman marries Chrissy. So it is Chrissy Plummer-Tripp.I think Chrissy Snow-Tripper is better!I never saw an ep of either but my local PBS (WYES) airs a marathon of Britcoms every Saturday night.I'm watching "Are You Being Served?" right now!I thikn Mrs.Slocumbe is the funniest character with her hair color changing every episode.I hope they get to MATH G&M and RN!

Personally, I think it's hard to compare the Brit and U.S. versions, just because there are some different sensibilities in the humor. I love both equally, though. As a kid in Ohio, "Man..." used to air in the wee hours of the morning for some reason and I used to sneak to watch it. I was obsessed. I'd never heard of it before... just realized similaries to my favorite show at the time, "Three's Company" and later learned of the connection (I was like 6 years old). I haven't seen the spin-offs yet. I just hope they're better than the "Three's" spin-offs.

I haven't seen Man About The House, but it would be interesting
to see it back to back with Three's Company just for the
comparison.
