It's nice that the entire series of Get Smart is on DVD but there are a lot people out there who don't want to buy the entire series or don't want to spend money on the entire series.
So why isn't just 1 season available on DVD or why can't we get a favorites compilation of a few episodes like many other shows have? |

I would like that too - I love Get Smart but don't have the money to buy the whole series. They should sell them individually.

You can order just season 1 at the link below. I'm not sure when the other seasons will be individually released. I'd keep checking Time Life's website or WouldYouBelieve.com for updates.

that's right; TIME-LIFE is also selling it by individual seasons now. (don't worry; they're also selling the box set; still!)

I think though, when all is said and done you wind up spending more $$ if you buy them one at a time as compared to buying them in one shot. I think T/L offers some kind of installment plan.

I wish more companies would release complete box sets of shows (and also sell them season by season as well). If you really like the entire run of a show it is so nice to be able to sit down and watch any episode from its entire run at your leisure.
Now I realise this could get quite expensive for some shows (Hawaii Five-O comes to mind with 12 seasons of 24 hour long shows...I hate to think of what that would cost)

I know they offer that...thanks for spelling the $$'s out and that's not too much more (I think) than if you bought them separately over time. I bought it for myself as a gift for running in the Chicago Marathon last month. I figured if I was going my beat myself up phyisically for a few hours, I could beat myself up financially for a bit too.
![]() Time Life did it right and I hope other studios take note of their release strategy; releasing the whole series first and then the individual seasons. I got nailed twice with MASH and the Brady Bunch. Seasons came out separately void of bonus features and I like many bought them and supported the series. Then BOOM...the whole series is released with bonus features unique to that set. What I did in both cases was when I learned of the complete series being released, I put my existing DVDs up on EBay and got enough $$ for them that it covered the expense of the box sets. The BBunch hasn't been released yet but its paid for. For MASH, the retail was $200. Amazon was selling it preorder for $140. I sold my seasons 1-10 on EBay for $120 and I also had a $25 gift certificate for Amazon. I got season 11, the bonus features and my seasons 1-10 back and it didn't cost me a dime. I was really irritated with Fox for doing that to the fans who supported 11 seasons of MASH for the last 4 years and wrote to them to loudly complain. The box set was retired (permanently? Im not sure) I guess more people complained as well and they are doing their fans right by releasing the bonus features along with the last episode of the series sometime soon. I think that is great! I have over 1,000 DVDs so from a storage perspective, its easier to have the one box set on my shelf than 11 of those cumbersome thick plastic three disc holders (Im sure there is an official term for those things I've attached a picture of my partial DVD collection (you can see the gap three rows up from my MASH set that is ready to be filled with the BBunch set) and of course, Get Smart! Having lots of TV on DVD can really consume your storage space.

Yes, it was me. I even had my dog (pictured right...the one with hair)call as well. I think it must've been her threatening tone that got the point across.
Even though I figured a way to do it myself, it just really irriated me that they were going to stick it to the loyal consumers who supported the show. They wouldn't have had the opportunity to release a big set if the fanbase didn't support each release and put up with the fact that there was no bonus material. I was very happy to see that they did this. The packaging for the series finale looks similar to the big box. Its a mesh-type material. Looks like it'll be pretty cool. Now Im just waiting for my Brady Bunch shag carpeting box set.
