Born Alphonso Joseph D'Abruzzo on January 28, 1936! Happy Birthday Alan!!

Suffered from bad case of Polio as a young child. At its worst point he was only able to move his left arm.

Is the only person to win an Emmy for acting, writing, and directing.

Was the only actor to appear in every episode of "M*A*S*H".

His father appeared in The Consultant; his father and step brother appeared in Lend A Hand.

I also heard he used shoe polish in his hair to keep it dark as he aged, but I can't find that substantiated anywhere.

I've never heard that one before..and you could tell where his hair was starting to turn white/silver in the later years of MASH
