WLM Purposely Deletes Contacts?
This is a question for those of you who use Windows Live Messenger/MSN 7.5 (and previous versions):
Is anyone having problems using this new WLM (or, MSN version 8) where your contacts get removed from your list after a time when contacts do NOT log in? I just noticed two contacts in my list who are no longer in my list. I know I did NOT remove them myself. I took this question to another forum, and one person said that WLM automatically does this if a person has NOT logged in for circa six months. My first thought was WTF???? I can't believe this! I checked out my address book in my Hotmail account, and I see these people were also physically removed. WLM sucks if it's doing this! I have never had this problem with regular MSN 7.5. I have had these two contacts in my list via regular MSN with NO problem. Now, this crap is happening? I am VERY worried about losing these people. So, I think I will revert back to regular MSN 7.5 instead of having my contacts disappearing like this. It's so NOT right.Anyone else who uses MSN/WLM experiencing this problem? If I revert back to MSN 7.5, will those contacts that have been removed by WLM be back? This totally bites monkeys! I wouldn't have ever upgraded had I known this would happen! *sigh* pissed: ![]()

That doesn't make any sense to me because there are people I haven't talked to on there in literally years and they never were removed from my list.

Well, let me rephrase what my point is. I do find it quite intrusive for Microsoft to feel the need to physically remove my contacts. Not only did it remove these two people from my Contact list, but I noticed they are also gone from my personal MSN address book. That's a stretch of intrusion.
I noticed one of these contacts weren't six months old that were removed. It was less than that. What really irks me is this was not a problem with MSN version 7.5 and before. I started to wonder if it's the MSN Plus! feature that might be causing this problem? I mean, some people are saying they aren't experiencing this. Is it because you guys don't use the Plus! feature? I don't know. I tried looking for a settings, but I couldn't find anything on the Plus! feature. I have already reverted back to MSN 7.5, but I still couldn't get those two people back. Grrrr... |
