Angry Benson being yanked again

According to "Link" at Tv Land, it is being taken off March 1.

I don't get it. Just recently he said that the show was "just below prime time numbers" when it aired during prime time hours (11PM EST) so I find it hard to believe there is no place to fit the show. Especially for a show that's practically been "AWOL" the last 20 years.

This totally sucks.

Well I guess TV land feels 6 months is long enough for a show to gain a large fan base

227 is being pulled as well. I guess they're being removed to make way for Addams/Munsters on Sundays? I was starting to like Benson...maybe TV One, i or someone else will show it eventually.

The way TheLink worded it, it sounds like neither will be coming back after March. They couldn't be swapping 227/Benson for Munsters/Addams via the Program Exchange could they? I guess that isn't possible but just an idea.

I sure hope so. It just seems so odd--Link had answered someone's question just 2 weeks ago that Benson would likely be given a try again in a prime time slot, since it was under contract until 2008.

Never saw another network make so many changes so quickly in my life.

TheLink explains....

My understanding is that the shows [Munsters/Addams] will be replacing the existing contracts for "Benson" and "227", which were scheduled to run through May 2008. My reference to "limiting airing" was based on my belief that they might only air on Saturdays and Sundays. I since have learned they will join the regular weekday morning line-up. I should have the March schedule for posting sometime Thursday or Friday.

'Benson' and '227' had been doing rather poorly in the Saturday/Sunday morning slot. There also had been a lot of complaints about the weekday morning line-up and "The Munsters" were one of the show which was generating the most requests among viewers. "The Addams Family" tends to do well when coupled with "The Munsters" and make a nice package for other reasons.

I didn't know you could just "swap out" contracts. Sounds like a line of bull to me.

I wish, but sadly, I doubt it. If I understand things correctly, Benson's (and 227's) tenure is done on TV Land. Please, if I am wrong, someone please do not hesitate to correct me, but I think with them contract swapping these shows with Addams/Munsters, the contracts for Benson and 227 become null and void as far as TVL (TV Land) is concerned, and they will not be back on TVL unless new contracts with Benson and 227 are inked with TVL.

I think that, since Addams/Munsters do relatively well in terms of ratings on TVL, those shows will find a place on the weekday morning lineup.

Personally, I think the whole thing stinks. Benson was probably the only show that I tuned into on TVL, and TVL never gave it a shot at survival. They kept putting it on in different timeslots, and it was hard to find the show. No wonder the ratings were failing.
