Default Growing Pains = my childhood

Hey everyone!

I want to first say hi and introduce myself! I'm Christina and am 20 years old. I grew up on Growing Pains. I was too young to remember watching it with my mom (who has started in 1985, the beginning watching it). But I still grew up with them all on reruns. I really admire everyone involved with the show. The cast was great and thank goodness for the writers... Thank goodness!
My all time favorite actor has always been Kirk Cameron. Him over anyone. Because of his work of magic on Growing Pains, he has always stuck fresh within my mind. My dream came true when I got to meet him back in 2000 when he came to a university (ironically enough, my school now). It was one of the happiest moments in my life... I just want to say hi to all of you and it's great meeting GP fans!

Christina

I remember watching it as a little kid originally with my mother, but I have fonder memories of watching this every weekday evening at 6:05 and 6:35 on TBS "Light" right after SBTB and right before Who's The Boss?

I grew up watching Growing Pains as well, and I am thrilled whenever a network picks the show up to play the re-runs. I watched a lot of the marathon Nick at Night played a week or so ago. I discovered something interesting. When I originally watched the series I was in junior high and high school and I could really identify with Mike, Carol, and Ben. Now when I watched it again as an adult, I found that I was identifying with the characters of Jason and Maggie Seaver. It actually kinda' weirded me out. For example, the episode where Mike and his friends are confronted with peer-pressure at the college party where there is cocaine...as a kid, I identified with that episode and appreciated Mike's point of view. Now as an adult with a wife and kids, I really appreciated how Mr. Seaver handled that situation. I think this really speaks to the quality of a show like Growing Pains. I miss it. TV today is thoroughly disappointing with a few minor exceptions.

I was 15 in 85 when Growing Pains first aired. The only reason I started watching in the first place was because at the time I was crazy about Tracey Golds sister Missy who use to play on Benson. I guess the genetic's in the Gold family were pretty good because Tracey was just as cute as her sister. Any way I didn't care for Mike at first but after a few episods he kind of started growing on me, probably because at that age I could defiantly relate to a lot of the stuff he was going though and all.
