Inappropriate laugher from the audience.....................................
Sometimes the audince laughed at parts that weren't supposed to be laughed at................
1.Penny's mother yells at J.J to "Shut up!" She says this in a really serious, angry tone. The audience should have been saying, "ooooooooh", not laughing like they did. 2.The audience laughs when James cries while he's with his father. That should not have warranted laughing, but it did. 3.The audience laughs when Thelma turns down the Allison School scholarship because the sororiteies were "backwards rascist"(You know, only 'helping" other races so they themselves look better). They should have been saying, "Right on." 4. When Penny shakes her doll and slaps it, the audince laughs. This was after the fact that it was found out that Penny's mother abused her. 5.When Ernie says, "I ain't............ sick." (When denying he had a gambling problem) The audience laughs. |

I agree sometimes the laughter was inappropriate. I was watching an episode and Penny is slapping her doll obviously this is something that has been done to her and the audience is laughing. To me it was just not funny it was actually pretty sad. I know they had live audiences back then but I don't know if they held up signs and told them when to laugh or if it was just spontanious. Anyone know??

In Cousin Cleatus, Cleatus says, 'I dropped out of the Black Falcons. I got tired of gettting hastled for the cause and getting by on chump change." The audience laughs after he says this. What The Hell?
