Default Does anyone have weapons in their home...

for safety reasons (protection) or for other uses (hunting)?

We don't have any weapons because I always had the fear that my children could access them. I have never had the need for a gun in our family home when I was young nor do I feel the need for it now. Especially with a five year old in the house. I had a course on gun use and the feeling of shooting a gun is so powerful. If I did have a gun in my home, I would be prepared to use it. The closest I have to a weapon is a police baton, but that I acquired when I was studying to be a police officer and even then, I had to acquire a special permit to have it. If I ever had to, I would use it.

My dad took me to get a gun permit when I turned 18 because I was moving away to college and he bought me a small 9mm. I had it until I got married and then while moving I gave it to my mom and I haven't had it back since.

Yes, my dad is a gun nut. He has a safe full of them. I know how to use guns, and have hunted before etc. But I don't like them too much personally.

Yeah, my dad has a gun cabniet, too. He's a hunter, so he has a bunch of them.

I, myself, am TERRIFIED of guns. I hate them. I don't think I'd ever own one.

My dad has a gun in one of his drawers, but it's unloaded. Have no idea what he used that for.

Being a policeman, I have two handguns, two nightsticks, pepper spray and whole slew of weaponry in the house. I'm well-protected lol

i have been skeet shooting before. It's a lot of fun, but i've never been hunting. That just doesn't interest me, but, like your dad, my husband, dad, father in law, all of 'em, they go all the time.

Yes, I have a .22 Remington rifle which my dad bought in the late 1940s. One of my brothers restored it in the 1980s, so it's in good condition. I have used it once or twice at an indoor firing range.
Before the same brother moved out, he had a .357 magnum and an automatic handguns. He used them at the firing range.

I like the idea of having something in the house for protection. You never can tell what can happen; like waking up during the night and realizing someone broke into your house and he's still inside. By the time the cops arrive, a lot can happen.

My dad has a BB gun that he uses to shoot animals in our garbage cans. But other than that, no. And I'm glad because guns scare the crap out of me.

Every officer has to leave their taser at the police roll call offices at the end of their shift. I've had to use mine a few times.

Aside from a few knives (which I use at work) I have a Red Ryder BB Gun.
No BBs though.
That's probably a good thing. My roommate and i would have probably shot ourselves by now if it was loaded.
