Do you think the NFL should be more like the NBA after the Game is OVER?

Both Teams go in Opposite Directions and they don't do that hand shaking and "GOOD GAME" thing. It's so easy for the Winner to EXTEND his hand out whilr the Loser may not be in talking Mood. Sometimes Loses really are Painful and it's no need to strike up a Convo after the Game in my opinion. That's how they do it in the NBA. So Win or Lose you just walk off the field with your Team

I wonder sometimes, when the QB searches out the other QB, or the RB looks for the opposing RB for the post game greeting, do some of them ever want to just run off the field and not say anything??

Today's TV cameras are trained to be on the elite players at the end of the game so if any of them ever do decide to take off - they'll catch negative pub the next day. It sux!

NBA playoff games I would say are different. The winning team will celebrate on the floor even if it's on the other teams court. This is mostly after a series win and alot of the time the other team will stay out there and congradulate the other team. Unless you're the 91 Pistons who just walked off the court and wouldn't even acknowledge the Bulls win over them.

If a player doesn't want to shake hands with an opponent after a game, then he should go straight to the locker room.

For NFL players, more than half of the teams on their schedule are teams that they only play one time (Teams play divisional opponents twice a year, but the non-divisional opponent part of the schedule is rotated around the different divisions and conferences). They might only play against certain teams every few years, depending upon the year-to-year standings.

There is a lot of camaraderie among NFL players (probably more so than in the other sports). Many of these players played with or against each other in college, or are former NFL teammates (players move around a lot). You don't get as much of that in the NBA, because not all NBA players played in U.S. colleges (many didn't even go to college, having gone to the NBA straight from high school), and many came over from Europe.

In the NFL, the vast majority of players got there the same way... playing in high school, then college, maybe becoming friends at various camps and all star games, and then finally, making it to the NFL. And just about all of them did it in America. That creates a much more common experience among the majority of players.

Plus, when you consider how may players certain "football factory" colleges send to the NFL, you can imagine how many guys know each other having gone to the same schools, even if it was a different times.

Basically, in the NFL, you don't get to see players from other teams as often as you do in baseball or basketball. You might play a team twice during a season, and that's the most you'd see them (unless you meet a third time in the playoffs). In the NBA, every team plays every team at least twice, so they see a lot more of each other.

But a lot of the greeting you see after an NFL game consists of guys seeking out friends from other teams. Or they just want to congratulate the opponent that they were matched up with on a good game.

Nothing wrong with it. Yeah, you get an occasional grump like LT, but for the most part, the post game handshakes have been peaceful. And, I think it sets a good example for kids (many players are conscious of that as well).

It's all about respect for each other after intense compitition. Once an NHL playoff series is over both teams players shake hands with each other. This takes place even after a tough fought 7 game series where opposing teams are literally just trying kill each other on the ice (just like the football players do on the field). Yeah it sucks to lose but if your man enough to play the game, you should be man enough to respect your opponent by shaking his hand even in defeat.

I seen those Handshakes in Hockey and you can tell the Losing Players are not interested in doing in because they are not making eye contact with the guy when shaking hands. They have the-"Let me get this sh*t over with" Look-LOL

This is not a knock against your opinion but I'm not sure how much playoff Hockey you watch. Believe me after every series guys have respect for each other. They are stopping and talking with each other and players on the losing team are wishing players (especially team captains, goalies and veterans) on the winning team all the best for the next series. Even the goalies stop and talk to each other.

So where are the Brady apologists now? I see your Golden Boy isn't any better than the rest of us following a loss, is he?

Yes, I noticed that about Brady as well... You could tell Manning was looking for him, but he was gone.

Also, Manning did find Belichick on the field after the game and tried to shake hands, but Belichick walked right past Manninng, didn't even look at him. Then he patted Manning on the back one time, but didn't shake hands and didn't really appear to say anything to Manning.

I believe Belichick did congratulate Tony Dungy on the field after the game, though.

I think the lesson here is that different players react differently in identical situations. No one at the professional level likes to lose, but some players handle a loss better than others. Reggie Bush is a great player (even though he's a major hot dog), but he did stop and congratulated as many Bears as he could after the NFC title game yesterday.

In another sport, guys like Bill Russell and John Havlicek always said that they loved being world champions, but there was never a time when they wouldn't have gone to the opposing locker room to shake hands with any team that was good enough to (finally) beat them.

After winning 8 straight NBA titles (and 9 in the previous 10 years), the 1967 Celtics were destroyed by the Philadelphia 76ers in the Eastern Conference finals in five games. The final score of game five was 140-116. Wilt Chamberlain was so dominant in that series that he averaged a triple double (22 pts, 32 rebounds and 10 assists) against Russell ( who averaged 11 pts 23 rebounds 6 assists in that series). In the final game, Wilt had 29 points, 36 rebounds and 13 assists. (you basketball fans out there have no doubt seen a few triple doubles, but when have you ever seen a triple double like THAT?)

After that fifth and final game, and after allowing the 76ers a few minutes to celebrate, Russell, an EIGHT time defending champion, entered the Sixers locker room, made a beeline for Chamberlain and held out his hand. Chamberlain took it.

Russell: Great!
Wilt: You got it, baby!
Russell: Great!

Then Russell left.

Seems to me, that if the greatest sports winner of all time can personally congratulate an opponent that was finally good enough to beat him, then EVERYONE should be able to do the same. Russell was undoubtedly stunned after losing the way he did, but he still found it in himself to congratulate an opponent who had just absolutely crushed him.

And, with no ESPN back then, Russell was not just putting on a show for the cameras. ESPN has had a lot to do with the evolution toward the relative lack of 'respect' in the NFL, as the goal of most players today is not to win the Super Bowl, but merely to get themselves on "Sportscenter".
