Your friend may be speaking about Little Palm Island. The resort has no phones or tv's etc. It was on the Travel Channel with Samantha Brown.

From the opening credits that island is Coconut Island and is in Hawaii, not Florida. Your friend is mis informed.

Matt, I agree with you that it is in Hawaii. However, I was speaking about the island in Florida as an island that one can have the "real" experience of Gilligan's Island, meaning no "single luxuries." A real Gilligan's Island not THE Gilligan's Island.

If you had a nickel for every "three-hour tour" that untruthfully says "...and over there you can see where they filmed Gilligan's Island..." you would be a millionaire.

I guess it beats saying "...and over there you can see an incredibly small and unremarkable island much like the last 582 you've seen today."
