Default "Happy Days" premiered 33 years ago today

It's now January 15, 2007. On this very date in 1974, Happy Days premieres on ABC-TV and runs for 10 1/2 years. Still a classic 33 years after debuting, we've identified with some of the show's characters, learned some powerful lessons from select episodes, spoke about some of the locales in the show, namely Arnold's Drive-In, Jefferson High School, Cunningham Hardware, Leopard Lodge Inn, etc., reacted unfavorably over heel cop Officer Kirk, picked up on some memorable phrases("Ayyyy!", "Sit on it!", "YEP yep yep yep yep!", "BAH Ha ha ha!", "I still got it!"), questioned Chuck's absence after 1974-75 season, Fonzie jumps the shark-well, you know the rest. Now, with CBS Studios(Paramount's parent company) releasing season 2 of Happy Days on DVD in the spring and possibly season 3 in the fall, we have the opportunity to once again watch those classic episodes. Personally, I'm awaiting season 4, but CBS Studios probably won't release that until spring of next year. Now, wouldn't it be nice if Paramount could put together a feature film version of Happy Days? Of course, it's still a real long shot from happening.

It doesn't seem like that long ago that Happy Days first came on. It was a
funny show and I still enjoy watching it on DVD. Wonder if todays teens like
it too.

I haven't seen it recently, but just as with M*A*S*H*, I've probably seen every episode of it at least two or three times. HD remains one of my favorite all-time sitcoms.

I think many (teens) do like it. Everyone, it seems, knows who the "Fonz" is. A few years ago I worked with some Italian exchange students and they told me that the show was popular in Italy, and they liked the character of Fonzi, and that he was both "Italian" and cool (well, at least partly Italian--my note--ref. 'Grandma Nussbaum')
