Orson Welles complimented Andy Kaufman

SUCH a compliment! From the great genius filmmaker, himself!
On a Merv Griffin Show, where Orson Welles guest hosted, he praised Andy on the ep where the characters were describing the defining moment in their lives: we see a flashback of Latka telling his mom ( in subtitles ) that he was going to AMERICA! with the word in red-white-and-blue-star-spangled capitals. Orson said that it was as fine as a short film, except he used a fancier word than that, cinema verte? maybe something else. He gave it quite a compliment.
Hermoine Gingold was on a different show, when Merv was there, praising Andy's eyes, calling them hypnotic. I think that might've been the show where Heartbeeps was promoted --and that was a rare thing, because that film was STARVED of publicity!
I'd like to get tapes of Andy's appearances on shows like that.
