Default Suzanne Somers' Home Destroyed in Fire

http://ww.tmz.com/2007/01/09/suzanne...royed-in-fire/

By the way, I'm sure her home is worth alot more than that.

The smoke was visible from our home. The fact that it was windy helped to push the smoke in our direction. That fire was deliberate and it could have been fatal, thank God no one was hurt.

That is sad I don't care who you are, I wouldn't wish the destruction of someone's home on anybody. Irene, are you and your family okay? I feel for you too.

We are a good 20 minutes away from that area, but still, the fact remains, the fire along with the winds that were blowing last night, could have easily made this fire a hell of a lot worse than it actually was. Still, property was destroyed and pets are lost. The fire could have easily jumped across the highway and destroyed a lot more than what was last night. You are right, no matter who the people are, rich or poor, people's homes were destroyed. I hope they catch whoever did this.

She will rebuild her beach fromt house. I'm sure that's not the only house Suzanne Somers and her husband own, but nonetheless, since they own the land, their beach front house will be rebuilt.

Feel sorry for her, but she made a really uncalled for comment about the servicemen and women over in Iraq. My brother is over there and now I hate her more than ever.

http://www.tmz.com/2007/01/09/suzann...a-kid-in-iraq/

In the wake of a devastating fire that destroyed her Malibu home, Suzanne Somers maintains a positive attitude.

In a statement to TMZ issued by her rep, Suzanne says, "My nature is to look at the glass half full. I don't have a son or daughter in Iraq. I haven't lost a loved one. We will rebuild, and I truly believe we will learn something great from this experience."

Suzanne and her husband were not in Malibu during the blaze.

I don't see anything wrong with that comment. If anything, she is stating that she is thankful for what she has in life. She is trying to convey that having a child in Iraq is a painful situation...her situation (her home destroyed) is nothing to compare. When I feel like things are bad in my life, I try and think of people who really have it bad...those who are homeless, jobless, those who are extremely ill or those who have loved ones in the war. That is maintaining a positive attitude, not being cruel or mean. That is what Suzanne is saying.

I agree with Ireneparalegal. I don't think her statement was intended to be mean spirited.

I know she can and will rebuild, but my heart still goes out to her and to the others that will have to do the same. There are some things that can't be replaced like photos. I'm glad there were no deaths.

I just seen our local news and they spoke of Suzanne and how she is "very optimistic" despite this setback. Suzanne sees this as a "glass half-full"...one who is NOT optimistic, would see the glass "half-empty".

Malibu Fire Destroys Suzanne Somers Home

MALIBU, Calif. (AP) -- Suzanne Somers' home was one of four destroyed by a wind-driven wildfire that swept through an exclusive seaside neighborhood of multimillion-dollar homes, a spokesman confirmed Tuesday.

Firefighters were still at the scene watching for flareups Tuesday. In addition to those destroyed, four other houses were significantly damaged Monday, and one resident who was not identified was hospitalized for treatment of smoke inhalation.

"My nature is to look at the glass half-full," Somers said in a statement Tuesday. "I truly believe we will learn something great from this experience."

The 60-year-old actress and her husband, former game show host Alan Hamel, were out of town when the fire hit, and a Hamel spokesman said the home was a total loss. Somers is best known for playing a ditsy blonde on the 1970s sitcom "Three's Company."
The burned properties were still smoldering Tuesday, and about 150 firefighters and arson investigators were on the scene.

The blaze had been fanned by Santa Ana wind as it raced through the celebrity enclave near Pepperdine University. "Red flag" fire danger warnings posted by the National Weather Service remained in effect for much of Southern California because of the strong wind and low humidity.

"I think they did a great job, the fire people. What can you do? It's terrible," said attorney George Roland, who also lost his home. Not much remained there Tuesday beyond a few trees and a pink front gate.

Fire officials didn't identify the owners of the other destroyed houses, but actress Victoria Principal was among those who rushed out to hose down their homes after the fire was reported about 5 p.m. Monday.

Principal's publicist, Alan Nierob, said her home wasn't damaged. "She covered her house with water," he said.

Victoria Pinero, co-owner of Little Angels Pet Services, which takes care of dogs and other animals, was housesitting at one of the homes destroyed in the blaze. She said she wasn't home at the time the fire erupted, but rushed back to save the owners' four dogs.

She said she found two dogs, but "we are still looking for the last two dogs. ... We did everything we could," she said, crying. "For these people, the dogs were basically their children."

The blaze burned near the Malibu Colony, one of the area's original beachfront neighborhoods, dating to the 1930s. The densely built stretch of luxury homes has been a favorite of celebrities over the years.

"Right now we cannot speculate about how this happened," Inspector Rick Dominguez said early Tuesday.

Residents of Malibu include Mel Gibson, Pierce Brosnan, Pamela Anderson, Barbra Streisand, Ted Danson, David Geffen, and Courteney Cox-Arquette. Malibu has frequently been the scene of devastating fires. In 1993, hundreds of homes were lost and three people were killed. A 1996 fire injured 11 people and destroyed six homes.

I saw something about it on the news & they had her quoting on it. So sorry to hear about it. I sure hope it wasn't her main home. Prayer for her & those in the fires paths...

Victoria Principal (DALLAS) also has a home there. Her home was spared. She helped give out water and food to her neighbors as the firefighters battled the blaze.

The thing with most of those homes on the beach of Malibu, they are real close together, so it is a wonder that some homes were untouched while it is obvious that many were destroyed.

I seen Suzanne on Entertainment Tonight and she spoke abt how optimistic she is and she was seen making that comment that was mentioned in the above post. If one reads that comment correctly or sees her saying it, there is no way one can miscontrue what she said. It is very clear what she said.
