Thumbs up The Florida Gators shock the world, and upset the number 1 ranked Ohio State, 41, 14.

I told my brother on the phone that I thought Florida was going to win tonight, and he and three of his four friends there, laughed at me. The other guy, (Jake) agreed with me, and I'm sure he was laughed at, and ridiculed for the last two weeks too. Ohio State was predicted to win 42, to 14, and Florida went and turn the tables on them, beating them by almost that exact score themselves. I love a good underdog ass kicking story!!

Anyway, congratulations to Florida on being the 2007 National Champions!!! This sure has been a wacky year in College football. LOL!! It'll be interesting to see what next years rankings are!!

What are your guys' thoughts on the game??

Most hated team...Notre Dame
Second most hated team...OSU

Both get BLOWN OUT by the same score!!

Made the whole bowl season for me!

Did anyone see the sign a Gator fan was holding that said:

Even though I live in Ohio I am not the least bothered by the outcome. In fact, I want to say that I am happy with Florida's victory. It gets annoying seeing everyone wearing scarlet and gray like there's nothing else to do besides eating, drinking, and sleeping Buckeye football. Talk about "in your face!"

This afternoon my mother on the telephone asked me if the TV sets where I work would be tuned in to the game, and I replied, "What game?"

Also, one could argue that Boise State should be crowned champion because of their perfect record; they beat Oklahoma in their bowl game.

Who picked Ohio State to win 42-14? You talking about your brother? Ohioo State was only about a 7 or 7 1/2 point favorite, which I think was pretty reasonable.

But Florida beat them every way one team can beat another. Ohio State was complete overmatched by Florida's athletes. The Buckeyes looked like they were playing in slow motion.

I live in Florida (but graduated from Rutgers), and it was nice to see the Gators clean OS's collective clocks... On other sites, seems like a lot of Big Ten fans think that their conference is the best, and that nobody belongs on the same field with OSU or Michigan. "Nuts" to them. OSU and Michigan BOTH got abused in their bowl games.

Florida played by far the toughest schedule, and ended up at 13-1.

Outgaining them by some 300 or so yards, scoring at will, the Gator defense was all over the field, and harrassed Troy Smith and his receivers to the point that OSU was literally powerless to do anything. I really can't even blame Troy Smith for the loss... there was nothing he or anyone else could do... his receivers couldn't get open, and the Gators' defensive line was all over him all night.

The game started out great and went downhill (in terms of the quality of play from BOTH teams). By that I mean that, I thought both teams came to play when I watched the first few minutes... but while Florida continued to dominate, OSU had nothing after their opening kickoff return. The Buckeyes kept the result of the game in doubt for all of 16 seconds... then got demolished.

No one gave Florida any credit, just like Texas hardly got any credit last year before they played USC, which is why I thought Florida would win. Did I expect it to be a blowout? No. But I am glad Florida came in and proved everyone wrong.

And as a student of a Big 10 school (and from a family full of Wolverine fans) I hate the Buckeyes.

I'm going by what one of the Florida players said during the post game show. He said that there were people who picked Ohio State to win by that margin. That's what my comment was based on.

Ah, OK, thanks!... I didn't watch much of the post game stuff, and didn't hear the player say that.

If the player said that, then he's "nuts" ... I don't think that any serious analyst would predict that type of score in a National Championship game. Anyone who knows college football knows that either team had the talent to win it all, and as I said before, I thought that OSU being a 7 pt favorite was pretty reasonable. The Gators simply came out and kicked their butts. OSU had the talent to respond and adjust, they just never did.

That's an excellent point you make about Texas. Although I rooted for USC in the title game last year, I knew how dangerous Texas could be, and was quite conscious of the fact that either team could win that game. I wasn't comfortable at all with the way a lot of people were writing Texas off. I think the reasons a lot of people did that were (1) USC had two Heisman winners (Leinart and Bush) (2) USC had the experience of already winning two straight titles and (3) the game was played at the Rose Bowl.

Texas (and Vince Young) had a lot of time to stew about that. And I'm sure that, when they arrived in southern California a week or so before the game, you can imagine what the So California newspapers were saying about the game, and were probably portraying Texas' chances as non-existent.

My rooting interest in USC in that game was merely because I wanted to see a team win 3 straight titles, which had never been done in the modern era (and maybe it's never been done, period). However, more than that, I was just hoping for a great game... and that's what we got, probably the best championship game I've ever seen, especially considering the pre-game hype of the matchup. Too many championship games don't live up to the hype, but Texas/USC certainly did, and then some. So I was not upset at all with the final outcome, I was just glad to get a great game out of those two great teams.

This year, Florida had to listen to more than a month's worth of people saying that they didn't belong on the same field with Ohio State, and listening to people say that Urban Meyer "whined" his way into the national championship game... Not only was it incredible to see how fired up the Gators were for this game, but they maintained that intensity for 60 minutes, and grounded the Buckeyes into a pulp. Just remarkable.

I live in Florida, and saw a lot of their games this year (they usually play a good team, so most of their games are worth watching). I've never seen a QB tandem like they have with Leak and Tebow. And all year, Tebow kept running right up the middle, everyone knew it was coming, but no one could stop it. And when he did the same thing to Ohio State, I was cracking up... the rest of the country hadn't hear about Tebow, as he was only a freshman this year. But we knew OSU wouldn't be able to stop him. And he did exactly what he did all year. Run straight ahead, and pick up the first down... (he was used in a lot of 3rd and short situations).

Gator fans I know (mostly alumni, not as many current students) were a bit pessimistic about their chances against the Buckeyes. But because the Gators play in the SEC, Gator fans are used to going into almost every game thinking that "this is the game we're going to lose". This game with Ohio State was no different.

But congratulations to the Gators, not only on this title, but for becoming the first team to hold the basketball and football championships simultaneously.

And, congratulations to the Buckeyes as well, for a great season. You fell short of your goal this year, but that's why there's a "next season".

Yeah, I don't blame you!! I usually don't watch the postgame show either, and that was actually the only part of it that I saw. Postgame shows, pregame shows, halftime show, Oy vey. Just play the damn game!!
