Default Does anyone else hate the cover art for the DVD?

I hate what they used! They spelled maude with all lower case letters, put a symbol in the d, I believe it is, and just used photos of Bea Arthur that remind me of the Brady Bunch opening! Those phots were good, but the title of Maude should be the EXACT way it was written in the opening credits in orange, if they decide to use the same colors. That is the only thing I would change about the cover out of everything I saw.

looks good to me and will easily stick out on shelves and i assume they dont wanna use orange on every seasons cover art which is why its the color it is..i think it would look horrible to have the same font type and color for every set

It's kind of strange they would not put any other cast members on there

They should put a large picture of Maude and Walter on the front and have Carol and Florida sort of in the background.

I don't think Florida's role on the show during season 1 was big enough to have her Photo anywhere on the DVD Cover

They might put a picture with her in it inside the packaging.

Sure it was. It set the stage later on for the SPINOFF Good Times...

Hey, maybe they're saving that idea for the Season 2 set! I like the cover art, though I agree that the title would look better if it were done in the font of the series' opening credits...

The cover art is always subject to change, mind you, but seriously, shouldn't we be glad that it's finally coming out? Honestly, some of you sound as if nothing is ever good enough. Perhaps this isn't intentional, and I'm not trying to stir up anything, but come on, a couple of years ago people were bemoaning the "fact" that a Maude DVD release was highly unlikely. Now we're finally getting it and people still look for reasons to moan and groan.

It's the first season and they're focusing on Bea Arthur, because, if you all remember, the show actually did focus on her the most during its debut year. In later seasons, the other cast members developed and expanded, especially the delightful Esther Rolle and Rue McClanahan, so chances are, if we get more seasons (everything depends on whether Season 1 sells well enough), I'm sure the focus of the cover art will reflect that. If it doesn't, oh well, suck it up...

What I think *might* be a good sales promotion for the set is to somehow feature Rue McClanahan on a cover or two. There are a LOT of fans of The Golden Girls who have never seen or even know about this show, and featuring Rue in some way could potentially draw in more buyers. And Rue wouldn't have to be the only other star featured on the cover, but I think including her could give the show more notice.

Just FYI: my suggestion for a different cover with Rue and others has nothing to do with a preference of mine. I'm happy with the cover as it is. I'm just suggesting a way of generating more sales.

Either way, be happy the show is being released. In the end, it's what really matters.

But didn't she have a Husband? Walter defintely should have been on there before anyone else but I understand about Esther Rolle and Carol.

Yes, she had a husband. He wasn't the star of the show in its first season. Later on, he was just as popular on Maude as Maude was. The same with Edith on All in the Family. The first season, the star of that show was definitely Carroll O'Connor. Later on, the show was known to be just as much about Edith as it was about Archie, though, of course, not in identical ways. I think the same is true of this show.

But the main point is to be grateful we have a release at all. I remember, Solomon, that even you thought a release of the show would most likely never happen, and yet here we are, finally getting it. I think we should be more happy about that than looking for reasons to quibble.

Don't you agree?

Message board or no, we should stop moaning and groaning and actually exchange thoughts on how much we're anticipating the release instead of griping about things that don't really matter...
