It was a TV movie.A woman is not let out of her house for a long time.Her husband was a police officer and he grew stronger and stronger.He'd beat her and just exercise all day.

I believe it is called Cries Unheard: The Donna Yaklich Story. I watched it on Lifetime a few months ago. It was from 1994 and starred Jaclyn Smith and a young Hilary Swank.
