Cases that never would have happened had there been cell phones - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

I just got to thinking and thought this was an interesting topic. Although cell phones have turned into pretty much the most annoying devices on the planet, one thing they definitely have done is diverted tons of would-be crimes. The two cases that I thought of for UM are:

Angela Hammond. If she had had a cell phone, she would have simply called her boyfriend and never had to pull over to a phone booth to do so.

The 49RHUGS case. When the girl was being followed by the man in the car, she could have simply called 911 and the police would have came to her rescue before she stopped.

Any others you can think of?

Jacqueline McAllister (who, along with Brian Major, was killed at a Canadian rest stop in 1991). Had it been for cell phones, help might have arrived sooner.

Good thought Fuji, though I doubt that even a cell phone would have saved my daughter if she had one back then because I doubt she would have had time enough to place a call under the circumstances she was abducted. Yet, another thought that oftens crosses my mind is that I wished we had GPS (Global Positioning Sysytem) that we have available to us now. Had she had one, we could have found her car leading us to her. GPS systems for cars are still rather pricey. I think the most frequently used GPS for cars is called the On Star. The "I wish" and the "What ifs" still play over and over again in mind. I just hope with the advances in Technology we can save more innocents from the evil preditors that live among us.

I feel for you Shek. As a father of three daughters, I struggle to understand how people can be so evil in this world. It just doesn't seem possible that somebody would want to hurt innocent people, but I guess evil has always been here. I've come to realize that we can't stop evil in this world, but we can resist evil in ourselves. By doing that, maybe we can make a difference.

Again Shek, I am so sorry for your loss.

Well, the Tina Resch picture would have been significantly less dramatic and memorable if she had launched a cell phone.
