Smile Lucy's hairstyle

Which hairstyle did you like the best the bun hairstyle or the hairstyle she had on the Lucy Show?

I liked the hair-dos in "I Love Lucy," because they added to the character of Lucy. Everything is perfect; pressed dresses, every hair in place & perfect makeup, shoes, hats and bags to match.

The later Lucy shows had her hair more care-free, relaxed and casual. She wore pants and was more independent.

I think the hair-dos are appropriate for the series; it is just amazing to see how many different looks Lucy could display.

Think of Donna Reed, Harriet Nelson, June Cleaver, Edith Bunker, Aunt Bee, etc., their hair and clothes never changed.

Lucy had b***s.

I preferred the latter hairstyle on Lucy....The I Love Lucy hairstyle was more suited for a younger girl.

I liked the way she wore her hair in the early years. I also liked when she
wore that short black italian wig in one of the episodes.

I always loved Lucy's hairstyle she had in the lost pilot; I found it gorgeous! As for the series itself, I always enjoyed Lucy's hair down instead of up in a bun - but that's just my opinion.

If I had to pick between "ILL's" hairstyle or "TLS'" hairstyle, I would choose the "ILL" hairstyle. Very elegant and pretty, but her bouffant on "TLS" is gorgeous as well.

The I Love Lucy hairstyle was called The Poodle Cut, and the hairstyle she started using in The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour and used variations of for the rest of her life was, The Artichoke Cut. I liked them both. I didnt like one over the other, but I do wish I could have seen Lucy with her Poodle Cut during her Lucy Show and Here's Lucy days.

Ditto!

I liked seeing her with her hair down. It's nice that she kept some length in those years. If you watch the episode The Fashion Show (1955), most of the wives of the stars were wearing their hair in very short styles -- it's quite a contrast to Lucy's pulled-back, longer hair.

I felt that when she changed it for The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour she went maybe too short -- but she did look stylish.

To me I think Lucy and Viv/Ethel dressed a lot more youthful on The Lucy Show than on I Love Lucy

One must keep in mind that Lucy's poodle cut with the bun on the original show was her own cheerfully tinted hair with a topper partial hairpiece (the front poof) .

However, according to her main hairdesser, Irma Kusely, the 'artichoke' ones that she wore from 'Lucy Desi Comedy Hour' for the rest of her life were actually very elaborate wigs specially made to be an 1/8th inch shorter than her actual hairline that she put on after having had her actual hair get twisted in very tight knots to smooth out the lines AND having a few curls pulled through surgical gauze with lots of hairpins to keep everything in place so she wouldn't have to think about her hair getting mussed or delaying scenes recovering her style. Yes, towards the end, she quit having the 'clamps' and let her lines be what they were but, for almost all her oncamera appearances from 'Lucy-Desi' onwards, that's what she went through!

I think the closest Lucy came to having her ILL hairdo, post ILL, was in “Yours, Mine, and Ours”. She was more of a strawberry blonde there (vs the flaming red hair of the Lucy Show). I think that movie was the best I saw her look on color film (discounting any color movies she might have done prior to ILL).
