Default Meatball Surgery

So, one phrase used a LOT on M*A*S*H (and, according to jump the shark, used too often) is the description "meatball surgery."

So out of curiosity, I was thinking why don't we list episodes in which this description is used.

This could be on-going...so like, if you watch an episode and hear it, jump on here and leave the episode name and the character who says it!

Good idea. It would be interesting to figure out how many times the phrase was used and by who.

Or is it whom? I don't know. I hope we're not getting graded on grammar.

Well the first time it was used was in the pilot episode. Hawkeye's talking to Frank. "Come on Frank. We've just come out of twelve straight hours of meatball surgery."

Just was watching Welcome to Korea, part 1, and Hawkeye says it in explaining the job to BJ.

I think Hawkeye also said it in a letter to his father in the pilot.

I was thinking of that too, but I forgot to check. I was too busy writing thank you e mails to the good people of TVLand for this wonderful week long MASH marathon.

Nope. I just checked it. He says "dainty" and "Par Surgery" but not Meatball surgery.

Speaking of the marathon, how are they only in season six tonight? This is the last night of the marathon, isn't it? I figured they'd be in the post-Radar episodes by now.

'Cause they're taking up most of their time w/the movie, the reunions, and the finale...those are like 5 -6 episodes in length, but they figure they'll be able to show the episodes more than these features!

Trapper says it to Borelli when he's talking to him in the O Club with Hawkeye in The Consultant.

Doesn't he (or is it Sherman Potter) that says it to Lil Rayburn in the episode "Lil" when they explain what goes on at the 4077? Then BJ says something like "Get 'em in and out".
