I would like to know what the growth disorder that he has is called. My son has been diagnosed with a rare form of dwarfism and looks like he does. He has some of the same physical characteristics as Emmanuel Lewis. It is so rare that there is hardly anything written in medical literature about it. Also, I would like to know if anyone knows how to contact him or his management company so that I could find out about this if no-one else knows. By the way, the correct term is "dwarf", not "midget". Midget is a derogatory name.

I have a student with a growth disorder that resembles his. If anyone has any information, I'd be very interested.

I don't think it's a growth disorder, he's mentioned this in interviews that he was just born genetically small, his parents are of average size. He said there is no known medical reason for his short stature in a People Magazine article last June.
He's actually grown 6" since he was age 12 and is about 42" tall today. [This message has been edited by TJ (edited 01-15-2001).] |

My husband is a pediatric nurse and has a patient with the same disorder. Very few children survive, and obviously fewer make it to stardom. It is a rare kidney disorder that stunts the growth. Now, kidney disorders are common, but a small complication of aluminum poisening is what has made Jake as small as Emmanualle Lewis. Consult your doctor on kidney disorders, but in all honesty, your doctor would have tested him for that already. Best of luck to you and your son.
