I agree. In the first season, he still had a lot of that "House Party, Kid 'N Play" flavor to some of his lingo and dialogue. This was his first leading role out of the shadow of being the sidekick and I think Martin was trying to play it safe with his audience and make sure his character was acceptable and not offensive. By the second season, Martin probably became more confident and wanted to make changes in order to shape his character in line with his more bolder "Def Jam / You So Crazy" stand-up comedy persona to produce more laughs.

He even threw the fact that he was banned into one of the episodes but I can't remember which one it was |
