Clooney, DeNiro May Fight Crime Together - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Oscar winners George Clooney and Robert DeNiro may be on the verge of teaming up for a new police procedural, assuming both busy stars can make room in their schedules.

According to Production Weekly and published interviews with DeNiro, the two leading men are in talks to topline "36," a remake of the French film "36 Quai des Orfevres" from director Marc Forster ("Finding Neverland").

The French original is essentially a game of cat-and-mouse between two Paris cops who try to bring down a crime ring with a promotion on the line. Daniel Auteuil and Gerard Depardieu toplined the Olivier Marchal-directed first film.

It's juicy material to be sure, but DeNiro and Clooney are two of the industry's most active actors.

DeNiro, who directed and co-stars in the current drama "The Good Shepherd," is starring for Barry Levinson in the comedy "What Just Happened?" He's also set to appear with Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson in a New Orleans-set police thriller.

But DeNiro's almost a slacker compared to Clooney, star of "The Good German." He's first expected to direct, produce and co-star in the period football film "Leatherheads" for Universal. "Leatherheads" is set for a spring 2007 start, followed immediately by "Burn After Reading," a reunion with the Coen Brothers. The Oscar winner's 2008 will then include a starring role in the James Ellroy adaptation "White Jazz," leading into directing duties on the heist flick "Belmont Boys." He also snagged the rights to John Grisham's "The Innocent Man" as a producing venture.

So stay tuned to see if DeNiro and Clooney actually have time to make "36" or if this is all just an elaborate ruse.

I'm looking forward to anything Clooney does. I loved his Good Night and Good Luck movie and he's one of the best actors working today. One of the last actors with any charisma too.
