Question Anyone think that Chip Fields didn't look right for the role of Mrs. Gordon?

I don't think that Chip Field looked right for the role of Mrs.Gordon, an abusive mother. She looked too petite and sweet(She was almost shorter than Penny, her TV daughter ), and she had a nice looking face. To make the character more belivable, they should have picked a woman who looked intimidating and looked like she would kick your ass! lol I would have believed someone like Mable King being Mrs.Gordon. That lady looked intimidating!

Default That's the POINT!

Mrs. Gordon may have looked sweet and innocent, but she was a monster to Penny. That's the shocker to it all, she looked like she wouldn't lay a hand on a child. She even acted sweet when she was going to burn Penny.

(In a sweet voice): Didn't I tell you to come straight home? You make me very unhappy, Penny, and you know what happens to children who make their mamas unhappy.

The good All-American mom,

BernNadette Stanis told me today that Chip was in the running for the role of Thelma.

Chip Fields may have been petite and attractive, but she sure did have that "mean look" down pat, I think she played the role well. And like someone just said, anyone can be an abuser.

What mean look? The one where she went into the Evans household and starts looking for Penny ? That look looked more mad than mean. Or do you mean whenre Mrs. Gordon says, "Listen sister, I had that baby and raised her all on my own. So get off your soapbox and stop trying to save me. What do you guys know about me anyway?"(something like that)..........That looked more mad than mean to me, too.

Well, imagine that same look on her face when she is mad at Penny for being late, or when Penny didn't do something that her mother told her to do. Apparently it didn't take much for Mrs. Gordon to take out her anger or "madness" on Penny. Abusers don't need a reason.

Ted Bundy was apparently a very handsome, good-looking guy (not to me)...but he was a SERIAL MURDERER...Looks have nothing to do with what a person is or does.

I remember watching those episodes when they originally aired but had no idea until I read this thread that Chip Fields played Penny's Mother. I haven't seen them since and never thought to look it up.

I noticed that Kim Fields was also on the show. Did any other Mother/Daughter or Father/Son appear on it also?

No other parent duos appeared.

As a matter of fact, today on TVOne they aired a Good Times marathon and aired those Penny episodes.

They had a marathon today. I happened to watch the episode today A MATTER OF MOTHERS where Penny's mother comes back to try and reclaim Penny.

What do you mean they put to much crap on the screen?

When I try to watch it, They stick this red banner in the screen after the commercials telling me what I'm watching or what's coming on next and it takes up over 1/4 of the screen or more.

Oh. I don't really watch the channel so I didn't know. When I watched it today, I didn't see that banner appear. I watched two episodes of Good Times and didn't see that banner.

They may have stopped, I'll watch it again and see. I really miss the show so I guess I can overlook it if they haven't.
