I don't think that Chip Field looked right for the role of Mrs.Gordon, an abusive mother. She looked too petite and sweet(She was almost shorter than Penny, her TV daughter
), and she had a nice looking face. To make the character more belivable, they should have picked a woman who looked intimidating and looked like she would kick your ass! lol I would have believed someone like Mable King being Mrs.Gordon. That lady looked intimidating!

Parents who abuse their children come in all shapes, sizes and colors.

Mrs. Gordon may have looked sweet and innocent, but she was a monster to Penny. That's the shocker to it all, she looked like she wouldn't lay a hand on a child. She even acted sweet when she was going to burn Penny.
(In a sweet voice): Didn't I tell you to come straight home? You make me very unhappy, Penny, and you know what happens to children who make their mamas unhappy. The good All-American mom,

Chip Fields may have been petite and attractive, but she sure did have that "mean look" down pat, I think she played the role well. And like someone just said, anyone can be an abuser.

Ted Bundy was apparently a very handsome, good-looking guy (not to me)...but he was a SERIAL MURDERER...Looks have nothing to do with what a person is or does. |

I remember watching those episodes when they originally aired but had no idea until I read this thread that Chip Fields played Penny's Mother. I haven't seen them since and never thought to look it up.
I noticed that Kim Fields was also on the show. Did any other Mother/Daughter or Father/Son appear on it also? |
