I've only seen a few Carl episodes, but your thread cracked me up. Horns up and ready for love.

..They had no chemistry whatsoever. He seemed stiff and harsh. Noone could take James' place.

Agreed. It was always awkward watching Carl and Florida embrace. Seemed James was still too much in my mind. James Evans was a great character and couldn't really be replaced IMO.
*I actually think Moses Gunn (who played Carl) is a terrific actor, but didn't really care for the character of Carl. |

Carls character was eerie, he looked like a semi cleaned up drunk, he had no sense of humor, smoked in her house, he lacked respect, for back then it seems like florida was intrigued by his bad boy influence but at the same time seemed as if she was putting up a facade for missing james and trying to let her children have happiness and not to worry about her...

I never got use to the Carl character, he seemed wrong for Florida.

I've got to admit, there was something kind of scary about him. It might have been his eyes, or maybe his voice. He could easily have been a great villain in a TV series or film.
