Post The Smothers Brothers Show (Sitcom)

In the mid 1960s, the Smothers Brothers starred in a sitcom that only lasted one season. It was a "fantasy" show, along the lines of other shows of this nature that were very popular at the time ("Bewitched", "I Dream of Jeanie", "My Favorite Martian", etc.). Dick Smothers (they used their real names on the show) worked for a magazine. Tom had been lost at sea, but returned as an angel who was sent back to do good deeds. Of course, only Dick knew that his brother was an angel. Like the other "Fantasy" shows, there were always comical mix-ups, arousing suspicion among the people around them. There is one piece of trivia about this show that has been driving me crazy: In a few of the later episodes, they introduced a female angel as a potential "love interest" for Tom. I have been trying to find out the name of the actress in this role. She looks very much like a young Loni Anderson, and would have been about the same age as Loni at that point in time. Does anyone know for certain who played that part on the show?

I was a kid when Nick at Nite aired "The Smothers Brothers" and I remember liking it too, mostly for Tom who was very child-like. It had a lot of little gags, like Tom playing an electric guitar without any electricity. Angels coming to earth was kind of a thing in the 80s and 90s (Highway to Heaven, Down to Earth, The Heavenly Kid, Date with an Angel, etc.,.) and this show fit into that mold. I recorded an episode during Nick at Nite's 10th Anniversary marathon and according to it's intro, they showed it from May 1986 - February 1989.

I also remember when Nick at Nite aired this and I thought it was pretty good. I vaguely remember it when it first aired (I believe on CBS on Saturday nights)

Writer Allan Burns talks about preparing early scripts for the show before leaving due to creative differences:
