Default Biracial people

I just wanted to start a topic on biracial people. I am a mulatto(dad is white, mom is black). Growing up, I was never really accepted by either race. My parents often got weird looks. Since when have you seen a Haitian woman hookin up with a white man? Anyway, for those of you on this forum that are biracial, did you go through a similar experience? Were any of you treated differently because you were black/white, white/hispanic, etc?.

Like you my mom is black and my dad is white, I've never had any BIG problems, I wasn't teased or anything growing up, I've had people ask "What are you?" LOL. I had girls dislike me for other reasons, I doubt me being biracial had anything to do with it.

Now when I was growing up and we (my parents and I) would go out together in public we've had people look at us a lot but I got use to it.

Girls didn't dislike me, guys did. Luckily, being 6'5" at 13 scares other kids lol. They may have been scared of me, but they never accepted me. Whites were a little more tolerable of me than the blacks. Luckily, I didn't grow up in a poor neighborhood.

I didn't grow up in a poor neighborhood either, But I personally think that people in the poorer sections in cities accept biracial people more than people in the rich or higher middle class neighborhoods. I don't know why but it seems that way to me. Luckily for me I grew up in a big city, so I think that had a lot to do with it.

LOL@U, Well I've always had more guy friends than girl friends coming up. Growing up I use to be a tomboy, so that's what I was use too.

I think part of it determines how dark you are. If you look more white, living in the poor areas doesn't help. If any of you have seen Kevin Martin of the Sacramento Kings, my skin is basically the same color as his.

I'm not 1/2 black, but my mother is part black...you cant tell I'm part black by looking at me, I have pale skin, blonde hair, bluegreen eyes etc, but I guess you could say my hair is similar to many biracial (black/white) people's hair when it's natural and not straightened, which isn't often now...it's a very curly and I think I take care of it pretty much like a biracial person would. lol.
