OK...I may be stretching things a bit here but try and stay with me.
The other night, I watched Battle for the Planet of the Apes followed by an episode of All in the Family (trust me...somehow it makes sense yet I still don't know how) ![]() Well I noticed a little nuance in the Archie Bunker character. When he walks or runs (as Archie will run I guess) he is hunched over and his arms kinda fly around like one of the apes I was just watching. Just wanted to get some opinions on this...am I pushing reality here? Should I not have such a double feature in my house ever again? Do I just need help? Or is it to portray the character as a 'primitive' person...ya know in his thoughts and his actions? The other thing I found cool about the Archie character is how they (whoever 'they' would be) never tried to clean him up as the series went on. I was watching a Season 9 episode and Archie still butchers the English language. Now I know an argument could be made that Arch got too soft as the series went on but IMO, I feel he grew like most of us do and changed with what he experienced in his life. The comparison I make here is say to MASH. In the first season, they are all pretty filthy looking...unshaven etc. by the end of the season, Hot Lips didn't have a hair out of place etc. Just some thoughts....I could blame this all on the Wonka Bar I just downed but then again...why not? Have a Happy New Year everyone... |
