Question Do you still make New Year's Resolutions?

Does anybody still make New Years Resolutions? If so, what are your New Year's Resolution's?
Many people I know always seem to make resolutions they cannot keep. The most common being I plan on getting a gym membership and losing x amount of pounds.

My resolution for this year is to be more patient in traffic and with others who are doing things that get on my nerves.

I made one last year, andI guess technically it came true. At the beginning of the year, I weighed 160 pounds, and wanted to lose 10. Well, at the beginning of 2006, that didn't quite work out, and I actually gained 10 pounds. But, at the end of 2006 I lost 10 pounds, and so I went back to what I was at the end of 2005, 160. So technically, I did accomplish my goal of losing 10 pounds. Yes, I did first gain another 10, but that doesn't take away from the fact that I eventually lost 10 LOL!! Had I worded it this way: "I want to be 150 pounds by 2007" (which actually was my goal), I wouldn't have accomplished it, but because of my slip of the tongue, and just saying I wanted to lose 10 pounds, I guess I can technically say I did accomplish my goal, so hooray for me!!!!! I will now party at my accomplishment!!

I'm actually making some for this coming year... I really seriously haven't in awhile, but I am this time.

Succeed in college
Get out more. I really want to take a trip by myself somewhere towards the end of the year.

In all seriousness, I did make alot of resolutions in 2006, and I can honestly say I made most of them happen. Probably about 80% or so. This year, I plan on making bigger, and more difficult resolutions, since I know I can handle all that other stuff. I plan to accomplish some BIG things this coming year!!

1. start waking up early so i can go to the gym in the morning. this isnt as much about losing weight as just getting in better shape. i started lifting a few times a week this fall and it really feels great.
2. be less stressed out, keep things in perspective (this will be the difficult one).
3. take more pictures.

I do but at first didn't want to
As I couldn't make promises that
I was afraid that I couldn't keep
But I do so at my mother's request
Despite that! Oh well, go figure!!

Generally, I don't like claiming changes and goals as resolutions. Most of the time, they aren't so. I don't know about next year. They are pretty much things I want to accomplish myself that I don't want to explain in public over here.

Just for fun, I went back to about page 83 of "Chit Chat" to read what I posted about mine. Here's my last year's list:

-eating more fruits and veggies
-not over-stuffing myself (I have begun doing this since late October)
-Socializing and interacting more with people (I've begun doing this, so I'd like to continue....)
-finally get those headaches checked out through a neurosis specialist
-....and finally, hoping to get a chance to hang out in person with a friend of mine after so many months.
Here are my results:

-Keep in shape: I am very damn proud to say that I have accomplished this! The motivation of joining a Step Aerobics class at my college really helped out! Not only was this for Spring 2006, but it was also for Summer and Autumn 2006! And...the trend continues....I'm also signed up for Spring 2007!
-Eating more fruits and veggies and not over-stuffing myself: Ehhh....I didn't really keep up with that...It was about the same as last year.
-Socializing and interacting more with people: Yep! I have surely pushed myself more for this.
-finally get those headaches checked out through a neurosis specialist: Sorta. I did check with a PCP, but it wasn't a neurosis specialist. I still need to.
-....and finally, hoping to get a chance to hang out in person with a friend of mine after so many months: Nope, this didn't happen. Who knows about the ever-so future in the faraway land of life. Maybe....but, I might imagine it'll be in the distant future the way things have gone....

I have a few resolutions that I really want to follow through with. Actually, a lot of the physical goals have been accomplished--I've lost a little bit of weight, got my teeth straightened (had the braces), and got my skin cleared up. So, that has been accomplished over time (and I never thought it would!)

For 2007, I'd really like to lose more weight so I can feel more comfortable. Physically, I just want to look the best I can and feel healthy.

I also want to go out and socialize more. Probably try dating again too.

Last but not least, I want to accomplish more with school. I really want to get back on track with the good grades, perhaps get involved in more extra curricular activities. Oh, and umm, also get the hell out of there.

Congrats to you on staying in shape, I know it can be difficult sometimes to stay motivated but from my personal experience the more I do it the more it becomes a lifestyle. I am proud to say I have been going to the gym now for 10 years and look the best that I have ever looked in my life.

To all those wanting to lose weight, it really takes a lot of time. Don't set unrealistic goals, start out with small goals and build from there. And don't deprive yourself of foods you enjoy, just eat them in moderation (Have one cheat day a week, where you can eat anything you want throughout the whole day).

Good luck to all on your resolutions, here's hoping 2007 will be a great year for all.
