Question Are you a multi-tasker???

Or are you someone who gets things done better by doing them one at a time?? This is actually a tough question for me. I believe I am, and have always been a multi-tasker at heart. I have ADD, and with ADD, I think you're pretty much forced to be a multi-tasker, since it's almost impossible to focus on one thing at a time with this disorder. On the other hand though, in some forms of ADD like what I have, your attention span is so short, that even though you're jumping around from one thing to another, it's hard to multi-task, because you can't focus on anything for more than 5 minutes at a time, and so you never really get anything done. I probably have about 100 grocery lists worth of tasks I started working on over the last 10 years that I was never able to finish. At heart, I'm a guy who gets bored easily, and needs to keep my mind constantely going on different things, and since I started up again on Adderol, my ADD medication, I've been able to multi-task, and focus much much better. Infact, as I'm writing this, I have atleast 5 other things going on on the side, that I'll be jumping back and forth to, after posting this thread, including: Housework, writing down my finances for the month, and getting my bills together, re-writing my screenplay with a clear mind, getting back to some emails, etc. etc. For me, I much prefer living like this, as opposed to just focusing on one thing at a time, and wouldn't have it any other way. I just don't know how to do one thing at a time. What about all of you? Would you say you're a multi-tasker, or not??

I voted Yes, as I normally am doing three or four things at once!

Yes, and much to my detriment, I'm afraid. The downside is that I must make extra efforts to be organized; the upside is, I can deal with things spontaneously and now. I tend to live in the moment.

I'm very good at multi-tasking. I run my home like a General...very systematic. When I worked, I was always organized. Every area of my life...my finances, cooking, shopping, housework, people's birthdays, etc. I keep a good calendar. My husband is the total opposite of me. I tell him that's fine, I don't mind washing the dishes...just make sure you put them in the sink. I don't mind doing the laundry...just make sure you put your dirty clothes in the hamper.

I am. Well, I can be. I just choose now to be at times. multi-task when I'm on the phone, listening to music, talking, running, writing, etc. I choose not to when I'm watching TV. I HATE when I have to. I just have to pay attention to every last detail of what's on screen. I can't even miss a word. I rewind! And when I'm reading, I don't do anything else. Anyway, I voted no.

I'm notorious for leaving stuff half done to go do something else. In school, I always studied with the TV or radio on. At work it's impossible not to, when 5 kids want your attention all at the same time.

OMG, we are so alike!!!

I'm so with you on the TV thing!!!! NOBODY can disturb me during my show...I have to have every single second of it absorbed!

I voted yes though. It depends on what I am multi-tasking, really.

I've often surfed SO while brushing my teeth... things like that. I can surf online, chat to someone on IM and text somebody else at the same time.

Yes, I multitask. Big time.

I keep it under control, since in can cause stress. I used to have extreme Type A.
Now I do easier multi-tasking: exersizing while watching TV, eating while watching TV, Chores while watching TV...

As for ADD, I think we use that too much to diagnos people. Sometimes it's just too much going on and never relaxing the mind.

Man, not me! Even watching tv, I have to be doing something (usually either painting, sewing, game boy, or surfin' the web)!
