Now that we've seen Season 7 on DVD in brodcast order and maybe watched them that way, I have an observation.
It almost seems like Peace On Us should have been the season premier episode. The season starts out with "Commander Pierce" and in the first scene, Potter is woken up from a dream where Mildred is wearing BJs moustache. In Peace On Us, the episode begins with an assembly and BJ looks a little ragged. The 'stach is there and the rest of him is pretty unshaven as well and Potter gives the directive to everyone to clean up their act. It has more of a feel to me like it was reintroducing characters we haven't seen for a summer during its initial run. In that episode, they start making wierd comments about the moustache; pointing it out like we don't see it. I don't know if Peace On Us was produced before Commander Pierce but it just has that 'reintroduction' feel. I just found it odd that they make such a big deal about pointing the moustache out in Peace On Us and then in Commander Pierce, Potter makes a comment about it before we've even seen BJ with it in person....and that episode aired first in the initial run. I don't know if it is aired in that order in syndication (I know it was when they used to run them in Chicago) but its just my observation...any thoughts? Happy Holidays everyone... |

I can see your points...I think that there are a lot of episodes I don't necessarily think are broadcast in the best order (most of season 5 just seems really, really random), but idk why they did that bit w/the 'stache...I agree about your observations.

So I was curious enough that I just watched both episodes...
I completely agree that it would have made a lot more sense to reverse the order of them.... But, no matter which order they are shown in, it's odd that one episode, BJ leaves the 4077th w/o permission and Hawkeye gets mad....and in the other, he too leaves without permission (albeit, they weren't as short-staffed as in Commnander Pierce) |

Ya know....even after comparing the episodes for my own post, I never picked up on that....thats pretty funny and you're right.
I think it was a way to point out how sanctimonious Hawkeye could be with authority...and when he had some. Something tells me he would have been a huge pain in the ass to work for. )

Oh I know...he was Mr. Laid Back until he was in charge...then he snapped! It wasn't that the power got to is mind. I think he just didn't know what to do or how to handle things the Army way.
He was good as chief surgeon, and my guess would be that he could probably handle that position at a hospital and be ok to work for, but anything majorly bureaucratic, forget it! |
