What time does Midnight Mass start? - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

I always thought Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve got its name becaue it ended at midnight, not started. Has anyone ever heard of a church that actually started Christmas services at midnight? The church I go to always starts its Christmas Eve service at around 10 PM.

Also, do you prefer going to church on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day? We always go on Christmas Eve.

Our church has midnight mass. And yes, it starts at 12 MIDNIGHT.

Midnight Mass starts at Midnight here...

and i've always liked Midnight Mass the best out of all of them. i like the 5 PM Christmas Eve mass too...we used to go to that one. now we go to midnight mass.

i always figured it started at midnight because it's officially Christmas Day and Jesus's birthday. Unfortunately I never go to Christmas mass because me and my mom are so busy shopping the day before, we are too exhausted to go to midnight mass. However we do go to mass at 4:30pm on Christmas Eve. I figure something's better than nothing.

Plus all the Christmas Eve masses are in memory of my sister's boyfriend's sister who died in 1990 from cancer.

I always go to midnight mass at Christmas, and I've never come across one that starts before midnight.

A lot of chapels have Christmas vigils which start about 9pm, but I've always known midnight mass to start at midnight.

Ours used to start at Midnight, but it has been steadily been moving up. Now it is at 10:30.
Before you know it, our Midnight mass will be starting at 4:15.

I just always assumed that Midnight Mass started at midnight. Any of the churches I know of around here start then.

our churches midnight mass starts at-get this-5 P.M.! (and I HAVE to go to mass on either Christmas eve or Christmas day, or my mom will KICK MY ASS!!!

Yeah midnight mass used to start at midnight here. Now it starts at 9. I guess midnight was too late for some to stay up.
