Is Season 4 the BEST SEASON and SEASON 8 the WORST?

Season 8 on the DVD was not that exciting to watch to me and I found myself falling asleep. Season 4 had the best storylines and was the most fun to watch. I like 85% of the eps in season 4 while I only 45% of the eps in Season 8

I'd say by season 8 the show was definitely showing its age. Watching it gives you the feeling that maybe its time to wrap it up. It wasn't as great as previous seasons were.

Season 4 has always been my favorite so in my opinion that is the best season. I liked season 8, it had some good episodes. I honestly can't chose which season I like the least.

I agree. I absolutely love Season 4, and I felt that Jack, Janet, and Chrissy were at their best in that season.

Season 4 is also my favorite.It's tough to choose a least favorite season,but I know that it wouldn't be 8 because I love all of the episodes from that one.

i love both 4 and 8....i think i might even like 8 a little more because i'm more of a terri fan than a chrissy fan. my least favorite is season five, hands down. boo to cindy eps.

Ironically, these are the 2 seasons I own (due to a buy season 8, get another season free deal Best Buy had not long ago) and I just watched an ep from each:
SNOW JOB: Season 4 ep, very entertaining, though Lana is a bit much to take (kudos to the actress for realizing she needed to get out!)

FORGET ME NOT: Season 8 ep, extremely moronic! Priscilla Barnes famously commented during the time of her employment that she didn't watch the show because it wasn't good enough for an actress of her caliber-All I can say whenever I see an episode with her is, lucky she was good looking! On the other hand, Joyce DeWitt looks terrible-I wonder if she was going through some hard times at this point-perhaps she had already found out that THREE'S A CROWD was coming? I know she felt very betrayed by Ritter and the show's producers by this move, and rightly so!

BTW, I picked these particular eps to see TAAFFE O'CONNELL, who guested on each one-In addition to having one of the goofiest showbiz names ever, she was hot!!

I believe that the reason that season 8 was the last season is because it seemed that they were running out of ideas and recycling plots in some episodes

I agree. I thought Season 1 was the best season, actually. Season 2 was also excellent, and Season 3 is almost as good as Season 1 - and that's saying a lot for quality consistency, since Season 3 had almost 4X the number of episodes of Season 1. Season 4 was good, but I liked the Ropers more than Furley for one thing; I never really 'gelled' with the Lana character; and Don Knotts was just starting out as Furley and hence his character was not as funny as it got in later seasons. Season 5 was just acceptable... I'm not trying to flame Cindy Snow or Jenilee Harrison but...

Season 6 was quite good, a bit better than Season 4 even, with the introduction of Terri, some plotlines with Jack and three girls (hey, more fun!), Furley at his prime. Season 7 was not as good as Season 6 although still OK, but Season 8 - one look at it, and it's not hard to understand why it was the last season.

My personal ranking would be:

1) Season I
1) Season III
3) Season II
4) Season VI
5) Season IV

8) Season VIII

Please note there is a large gap in quality between #5 (Season IV) and the #6's (Seasons V and VII). #1-#5 are ranked in the order of 'favorite seasons' in descending order. #6-#8 are ranked in the order of 'which one was the least bad, out of a collection of bad seasons'. By the time I get to Seasons V and VII, it's really hard to say which one was worse... so I ranked them equally. And Season VIII was obviously worse than either V or VII.

I tend to feel the same way, Subspace. Seasons 1 and 3 are definatly my favorite, i'm not sure which one I would pick though. Season 1 is such a drasticly different type of show than Season 8. Season 1 had the best double entendre misunderstandings, it was just classic.

I agree completely. I think part of the reason the later seasons (esp. Seasons 7 & 8) weren't as good as the earlier seasons was that the quality and number of double entendre misunderstandings decreased... Three's Company was started as, succeeded as, and made its name as a bedroom farce, and when the later seasons started using less and less of the double entendres laced with sexual connotations that were the signature trademark of the earlier seasons... well, the show sort of drifted away from its origins and style, and became less funny as a result.

Season 1 definitely had the best misunderstandings... I always thought they put the most effort into that first pilot season, particularly the very first episode, Man About the House - one of the best Three's Company episodes ever, in my opinion.

Season 3 was great because the Ropers were getting into their groove, they were probably at their peak during Season 3. I too have a hard time deciding whether Season 1 or Season 3 is better, that's why I ranked both of 'em #1 in my previous post.

I think season 1 has to be eliminated from the best season discussion because it only had 6 eps. It has to been between season 2 to 8

Huh. Season 1 may have been short but it was still a season!! The only way it could be eliminated, technically speaking, was if you could argue successfully that Season 1 was not a 'real' season, but since Season 1 is an official season of Three's Company, I'm afraid your argument as presented above isn't sound. You are basing your argument on length, but the problem is all the seasons have variable lengths. There have been seasons with 22 episodes and others with up to 28 episodes. Season 1 was merely shorter than the rest. Doesn't mean it's not a bona fide season.

That said, if for some reason Season 1 were not to be included in the discussion (oh, does that mean the six Season 1 episodes are useless and should be tossed away into the ether?), my ranking for one would be essentially unchanged. It would become

1) Season III
2) Season II
3) Season VI
4) Season IV

~~~

5) Season V
5) Season VII
7) Season VIII

For me, seasons 3 and 4 were the best. I agree that season 8 was the worst.
