Default Angelina Jolie: 'Adoptive Parents More Fit to Raise a Child'

Angelina Jolie insists adoptive parents are more fit to raise a child than biological parents, because their background and personality is thoroughly scrutinized to see if they're suitable for the challenge.
The Girl, Interrupted actress was put through stringent tests before being granted permission to adopt Maddox, 5, and Zahara, 1.

But when she gave birth to baby girl Shiloh Nouvel earlier this year, nobody investigated her suitability as a mother.

She says, "It should be hard to be a parent period. I go through many things to adopt.

"I'm finger-printed, I'm checked, I go through home studies. I have to prove I'm a decent citizen, a good human being.

"That didn't happen to me when I gave birth, so it's interesting that there's no background check when you bring a child into your home in that way."

While I think it can go both ways as far as fit parents to raise a kid goes, Angelina does make a good point there. There are people in my neighbourhood who are addicted to heroin and meth, but they have like three kids, all naturally concieved. Sometimes I think the world is messed up. How unfit parents can bring any kid into this world, but if a good person wants to adopt a kid, they have to go through a lot of hoops for the state to see if they are a fit parent to raise a child. It's crazy how the world is.

I seen her on Larry King last night talking abt that. I agree with her on that, however, we have seen too many cases of adoptive parents, even foster parents who have abused children in many ways.

Being an adopted child, I was VERY VERY BLESSED to have the family I was brought into. However, my parents didn't adopt me in the traditional sense, they avoided all that red tape. My biological mother approached my family and asked if they wanted to adopt her baby (me). She simply had my "adoptive" father sign the birth certificate as the biological father and the day she and I were released from the hospital, she handed me over and was out of my life.

I never consider my family to be my "adoptive" family. I only point that out here to not make my post confusing.

Seems a bit conceited to me, and how about all the kids that need to be adopted right here in our own country. The more I keep hearing about her and Brad, the less impressed I am about either of them.

Although I hate to admit it, Jolie does make a valid point, but is does come off as conceited. I guess home-wrecking or mulitiple divorces isn't on the adoption questionnaire. Comedyfreak is right, charity begins at home. Next time, the Wonderfuls should think about adopting an American orphan.

Wow.

You know, I heard that she could run the lights of every home in a large midwestern city just on the power of her own self satisfaction.
