Has anyone seen reviews from people who've bought the set yet? I look every day and can't find one.

Yeah. I should have mentioned I've seen those. But I was thinking of maybe somewhere not associated with Time Life. Not that I'm accusing anyone of anything.

The Get Smart DVD's are fantastic. The packaging could be a little better, the cardboard/phone booth box that comes with the DVD's is a little cumbersome to handle, and the DVD sets fit too tight inside the box. And I think they could have done without the Barbara Feldon intros to everything on the DVD's, although it's a nice extra touch. But everything else is superb, a lot of work went into the creation of these DVD's and they certainly gave Get Smart the proper respect with this set. The episodes look great, sound great, and are uncut. And for those who like bonus features, each season has a bonus features disk with interviews, bloopers, highlights from the past and interactive stuff as well. Any Get Smart fan should own these DVD's, they definitely get a thumbs up from me!

I have to agree with Lee. I just received this set Monday as a Christmas present and am thoroughly enjoying it. The audio and video is excellent and they did put a ton of care into this set. The packaging is a bit flimsy but other than that it is well worth the money. It figures to about $40 per season at $200 for the complete set with five seasons. TL/HBO did a nice job and should be commended for their work on it.

It states in the review that the show was on ABC but I believe it was on NBC before moving to CBS for the last season

This isn't a true review, just my impressions after receiving the set and watching about 15-20 episodes.
I'm still making my way through the first season (each disc has 7 or 8 episodes apiece, I'm on the third disc of season 1 right now). I think that the quality of the audio and video is fabulous. Barbara Feldon does an intro to each episode, but these intros are only a few seconds long, and you can go straight into the episodes if you want to. The discs do have a "Play All" feature (this is important to some people). The packaging is clever, I thought, even if it is a bit cumbersome. (You open the DVD package from the side, but you have to open two or three "doors" to get to the season-DVD sets (just as Max had to go through several doors in that hallway leading to CONTROL headquarters). The entire DVD set seals in the cover box with velcro. Also, when you look at the picture at the top of this web page and see the packaging, you'll notice that each season comes in its own box. The discs actually are stored in a fold out box, and then the box itself slides into a hard (but flexible) plastic sheath. This can be a tight fit, I'm afraid I'm probably going to fray some of the corners of the DVD boxes after a while because of getting the corners of the box stuck while trying to insert the box into the plastic covers... Maybe there's a real easy way to do this, but I haven't found it yet. But again, the quality of the shows themselves is awesome. There is also some episode commentary from Barbara Feldon, but I haven't watched that yet. Someone who's gone through the whole set can elaborate on the extras, but this set is worth owning for the episodes alone! |

I got Season 1 today for Christmas, and I have just watched the Pilot "Mr. Big", and may I saw the quality is great. I give many thanks to Time-Life/HBO. They went all out with these DVD sets. I can't wait to watch all of Season 1, and then get Season 2.
