Default Do you think the actresses are truly friends in real life?

Just curious. I know they all say they get along just fine. That's not my question. Are any of these women real friends or is it a Christmas card kind of thing? I know, life goes on, people get older, they get busy with their own lives. But I've just been thinking about it. I mean does Kim call Mindy to talk about baby names? Does Nancy call Lisa when she has a question about parenting? Do any of them ever visit one another? I have the feeling none of them ever really keep in touch to any extent. Have you guys ever heard anything about this?

I don't know if Kim and Mindy hang out or call each other but there was a thing on Lisa's website in her online journal (August 17, 2006) that she and her family took a road trip across there home state of Texas and they stopped at Nancy's ranch, here is the little paragraph she had on it. From there we headed further south to visit my old friend, Nancy McKeon and her husband and adorable daughter. Since Nancy married a Texan, she spends some of the year on their ranch in the Lone Star State. We were treated to genuine Southern hospitality and it was so good to catch up with old – and new – friends.

In one of the S1 DVD interviews (I think on the "Today" show), Mindy said that she and Kim stay in regular contact, and Lisa and Nancy are back in closer contact since Nancy moved to Texas.

Like my friends from HS... we send a Christmas card or an occasional email. But I have closer friends that I have made since my teenage years.

I found the old magazine article Nancy did for US Weekly and it said she keeps in touch with Lisa, Charlotte, Alex Rocco and Kim. She did not mention Mindy. I wonder why? Also I noticed when they were doing the DVD interviews Al Roker asked if they keep in touch and Lisa and Nancy said they do and Mindy said she and Kim do. So Mindy doesn't stay in touch w/Nancy or Lisa and vice versa. Also during the interviews I noticed Lisa was usually in the middle w/Mindy and Nancy next to her. I wonder if that was done on purpose. I also remember Mindy was on the truth behind TV sitcoms and she said was guilty of "stirring the pot" w/any drama on set. So maybe there are some old wounds.

I remember them saying that on the Today show. It does seem like Lisa and Nancy have remained close friends especially with her journal entry (which I didn't know about until now). It's nice to hear. As for Mindy, she seems to have her own life in L.A. and maybe meets up with them casually for these types of things. I don't think they have anything against each other. They spent a huge part of their lives together. So, even with distance, I think they remain friends and call each other or see each other occassionally.

I don't think there is anything up between Mindy and the others. I do get the sense that she keeps in contact with the others the least, but I'm sure it's just the case of people being busy with their own lives and going in opposite directions.

I don't think there is any feud or anything, or somebody or something would have leaked by now.

As for Nancy and Mindy, yes, often Lisa was in the middle during the DVD interview rounds, but I think that was a mostly visual thing. As in, put the blonde in between the two darker haired women for a better balanced visual.

But in the Today interview which was first, the slight awkwardness might have been that according to Lisa's blog, Nancy had just met up with them that morning before being whisked over to the studio, so Mindy and Nancy probably hadn't even had a chance to catch up before going on air.

I did notice as the day went on (by the subsequent interviews), they all seemed to loosen up and have more fun with each other. Then again, they were probably catching up during all their breaks.

You'll also note that in one of the CNN interviews they do mix the order up and Nancy is sitting next to Mindy and they are seemingly happily joking around with each other. Plus if Lisa's blog is any indication, they all dined together and had a great time, though Lisa ducked out early while the others stayed behind.

I've already seen first hand in my life how easy it is to lose contact with people, especially when you are all spread out living in various parts of the country. You think it will never happen, but it does.

But hey, you never know...maybe Mindy is back in contact with Lisa and/or Nancy since the reunion tour.

Default Probably Not

After the filming of the FOL reunion movie, I recall Lisa stating in interviews that the girls would make of point of staying in closer contact from that point on.

Lisa compared it to parting at a high school graduation: everyone promises to stay in touch, and then, most often, they don't. I think that is a very good analogy.

Keep in mind that the girls knew each other as teenagers. Much has changed in the nearly 20 years since FOL ended. The commonality that brought them together, the show, is long over.

I think fans want very much to believe that the on-screen friendships they saw played out in FOL actually exist. Many years ago, they probably did. The four girls, today, are at very different points in their lives. I'm sure they probably exchange the obligatory holiday greetings. But as for phone calls, I'm sure it is few and far between. It's just difficult to be "close" when you're so very far apart.

of all the times I have seen/talked to Lisa, she talks about Nancy mostly and they are very close. On Jeff Probst the other day, she said she spend 4 days at Nancy's ranch a few weeks ago so they are still very close.

There's a similar thread active just now, where I posted my own reason for thinking that at least Nancy and Mindy/Kim had some hard feelings between them for some reason. Although, I'm feeling a bit guilty for being so nosy now. Oh well...here's my post in that thread and the link to the video:

I think there is some friction between the girls, although it breaks my heart to believe it. The last reunion between the girls, at the TV Land awards? Some of you must have watched the Youtube video of Lisa, Nancy and Charlotte's interview on the red carpet, and at one point, Charlotte was speaking into the mic, and Nancy and Lisa were looking in some other direction.

You can just hear this conversation:

Nancy: She's just standing there doing nothin'!
Lisa: Do you think we should go get her?
Nancy: She won't listen to me...

Then Lisa goes off to get whoever it was (it was either Mindy or Kim, according to Charlotte's remarks later), yet she comes back alone. And Nancy just washes her hands of the whole thing. So I think there is some animosity there, somewhere.

Oh, and on this video, at 0:36, someone shouts out to Nancy and Lisa "You're gay!" and they both just crack up laughing. They are obviously aware of this idea. Youtube commenters are just too great!

I think this is probably the case. Very well said, Justwondering.

Lisa just said a week or so ago when she was on the Jeff Probts show that people ask this question the most if they all stay in touch. And she said when it was announced that she was going to be on Survivor Mindy called her up right away and said she will be rooting for her and so did Charlotte and then she went on to say that a few weeks ago she stayed 4 nights at Nancy ranch in TX. But she didn't say anything about Kim. Although the National Enquirer just had a article about Lisa I don't know if it's all true but it said Lisa wants to get back in the Hollywood scene and she has gotten in contact with Kim to help her get back in the TV show game. Also a year or so ago Charlotte went and saw Lisa at a Woman of Faith event. So I think they still stay in touch just not real often.
