I'm not a rap/hip hop freak, BUT my all-time fave rap/funk song has gotta be MS JACKSON by the Outkast. Awesome lyrics and arrangements and it maintains that funky sound that most rap songs out there have totally forgotten...

Yeah this one right here goes out to all the baby's mamas, mamas...Mamas, mamas, baby mamas, mamasYeah, go like this[CHORUS: Andre 3000]I'm sorry Ms. Jackson (OOOH)I am for realNever meant to make your daughter cryI apologize a trillion timesI'm sorry Ms. Jackson (OOOH)I am for realNever meant to make your daughter cryI apologize a trillion times[Big Boi]A baby drama mama, don't like meShe doing things like havin her boys come from her neighborhoodTo the studio tryin to fight meShe need to get a, piece of the american pie and take her bite outThat's my house, I disconnect the cable and turn the lights outAnd let her know her grandchild is a baby, and not a paycheckPrivate schools, daycare, ****, medical bills, I'll pay thatI love your mom and everything, see I aint the one who laid downShe wanna rip you up, start a custody war, my lawyer stay downShe never got a chance to hear my side of the story we was dividedShe had fish frys and cookoutsOn my child's birthday I ain't invitedDespite it, I show her the utmost respect when I fall throughAll you, do is defend that lady when I call you, yeah[CHORUS:]I'm sorry Ms. Jackson (OOOH)I am for realNever meant to make your daughter cryI apologize a trillion timesI'm sorry Ms. Jackson (OOOH)I am for realNever meant to make your daughter cryI apologize a trillion times[Andre 3000]Me and your daughterGot a special thang goin onYou say it's puppy loveWe say it's full grownHope that we feel thisFeel this way foreverYou could plan a pretty picnicBut you can't predict the weather, Ms. JacksonTen times out of nine, now if I'm blind fineThe quickest muzzle throw it on my mouth and I'll declineKing meets queen, then the puppy love thing, together dreamBout that crib with the goodyear swingOn the oak tree, I hope we feel like this foreverForever, forever, ever, forever, ever?Forever never seems that long until you're grownAnd notice that the day by day rule can't be too longMs. Jackson my intentions were good I wish I couldBecome a magician to abacadabra off the sadderThoughts of me, thoughts of she, thoughts of heAskin what happened to the feelin that her and meHad, I pray so much about it need some knee, padsIt happened for a reason one can't be, madSo know just know that everything is coolAnd yes I will be present on the first day of school, and graduation[CHORUS:]I'm sorry Ms. Jackson (OOOH)I am for realNever meant to make your daughter cryI apologize a trillion timesI'm sorry Ms. Jackson (OOOH)I am for realNever meant to make your daughter cryI apologize a trillion times[Big Boi]Uh, uh, yeah"Look at the way he treats me", ****, look at the way you treat meSee your lil nose ass homegirls got they ass up in the creek GWithout a paddle, you left the straddle and ride this thing on outAnd then you and this girl aint speakin no more cuz my dick all in her mouthKnow what I'm talkin about, jealousy, and fidelity, envyCheating, beating, and to the G's they be the same thingSo who you placin the blame on, you keep on singin the same songLet bygones be bygones, you can go on and get the hell onYou and your mama[CHORUS:]I'm sorry Ms. Jackson (OOOH)I am for realNever meant to make your daughter cryI apologize a trillion timesI'm sorry Ms. Jackson (OOOH)I am for realNever meant to make your daughter cryI apologize a trillion timesI'm sorry Ms. Jackson (OOOH)I am for realNever meant to make your daughter cryI apologize a trillion timesI'm sorry Ms. Jackson (OOOH)I am for realNever meant to make your daughter cryI apologize a trillion times[Thanks to kelly.staples@lycos.co.uk for correcting these lyrics][ www.azlyrics.com ]

Why do you think Southernrappers are garbage? I don't have time to name all of the rap songs I like; yes, I like 2Pac, Biggie, Nas, Jay-Z, Wu Tang Clan, Mobb Deep, A Tribe Called Quest, Souls of Mischief, Dr. Dre, NWA, Public Enemy, LL Cool J, Redman, Ice Cube, etc. but I'm sorry but Im not going to be AS into some of them and the other people you mentioned because their time has come and gone long ago. You're older than me, and I dont remember as clearly some of the old school rappers you mentioned because they were popular in the 80s...many before I was born. And Southern rap has it's own uniqueness to it, just like West Coast rap and East Coast did. East coast and West coast already had their time in hip hop and now the South is having their turn. Can you honestly say that Outkast did not have some of the realist lyrics in their song "Da Art of Storytellin" especially Andre's and Slick Rick's part. That song came out in 1998 and I was 10 years old at the time...so you expect me to remember songs from 1986? I'm not one of those people that is constantly complaining about the current state of music, so I like songs that are out now. Like I said, I do respect the older rappers that came before and have listened to them, but I'm not going to listen to rappers that came out 10, 15 and 20 years ago all the time.

The reason i think most southern rappers are garbage is because they can't rap LOL. Most of them have no lyrical skills at all and they rap about the same ignorant stuff over and over again every album. Only south rappers i like are Goodie Mob(Ceelo and Big Gipp are very weird LOL), 8Ball and MJG, Geto Boys. I used to like Ludacris when he was underground. His music is too commercial and pop now. I like Outkast's first album. I don't like their other albums. Big Boi should've left Andre when he started acting weird. Andre is a weirdo and i wish he hadn't started wearing gay clothes and singing. The thing i hate about rap music right now is that too many artists are slaves to their record companies. What i mean by that is too many of them are doing commercial, pop and gay songs to sell records because that's their record companies are telling them to make those kind of songs because that's what's selling. The youngsters who are buying rap cd's now don't know a damn thing about real lyricists and that's why rappers who can rap real well like Canibus, AZ, KRS One, Cormega, Brand Nubian, Ras Kass aren't selling because the people that's buying the records don't wanna hear real lyrics and songs that have messages in them. It's all a plan by the white man who's in charge of these record companies to keep blacks ignorant. I also don't watch Rap City anymore on BET because they show the same corny rappers videos everyday and they won't play videos by rappers who can rap. I also don't buy rap magazines anymore such as The Source, XXL, Murder Dog because they interview the same corny rappers every month. I don't see rap music getting any better in the future. I think rap is gonna get a lot worse.

The thing that's sad about the state of rap music now is that too many rappers are only doing rap to get paid. The black youth who are buying the records look up to these rappers and the rappers don't give a damn about what type of image they're portraying on their records. These rappers are letting the black youth know that it's cool to sell drugs, it's cool to be a pimp, it's cool to be a thug, it's cool for blacks to kill each other, it's cool for blacks to get locked up, it's cool to be unintelligent and use slang words instead of speaking proper, it's cool for young black girls to have a bunch of kids. The rappers that do have messages in their songs that preach about education, politics and knowledge such as Public Enemy, KRS One, Dead Prez, Paris, The Coup, Brand Nubian, Geto Boys, Gang Starr, their music gets overlooked because the ignorant black youth don't wanna hear about that stuff. They'd rather hear ignorant rap songs and that's pathetic. I can't even remember the last time i bought a rap cd. That's how garbage rap is to me now.
