Default BJs affair

OK...so its just a tv character but Im wondering what you all think about this pivitol point in this characters development.

What do you think happened with this event when BJ went home? Did he ever tell his wife or did he keep this to himself? If he told her, what do you think would have happened to him?

Of course, those questions would all be answered in the made for tv movie After...After MASH but I assume that one hasn't gotten off the ground yet.

I haven't really thought of an answer myself but I wanted to throw the question out there.

Hope everyone is having a happy Holiday.

I think he told Peg, crying hysterically the entire time....maybe not like the day he got off the plane, but sooner rather than later. Since so little happened (from my memory...it was more an emotional cheat than physical?), I think Peg forgave him...but we never really discovered much about Peg's character other than from his perspective, and since he had her on this pedistal, she could have been completely different, but he was so blind he didn't see it?

I'd love to write an After-After MASH movie!

Default BJs affair

The affair was definately a physical one (more than the 'affair' Archie had with the waitress on All in the Family where it was just a kiss) but that was all implied off screen. Maybe I just have a dirty mind.

I like the vision of him crying while he tells her but more from being a whimp than out of remorse.

i don't know i mean bjs not a cheater i think it was just all the stress and the war and everything you know i mean i know thats not a an exsues for cheating on her but...i'm sure bj was very very sorry he just needed some comfort or something besides he just kissed her its not like that both slept with each other or anything like that if he did that then that would be a complety diffrent story right there! i like bj and i know that he did the right thing went home and just faced the music! but maybe lol peg was just so happy to finally have him home and alive that didn't seem to matter anymore! i don't know! but if bj was my hasband i'd think i'd be happy just to have him home that i just wouldn't care!

I agree completely. I mean, a kiss is a kiss...but it's not the same severity at all...I think it speaks tons about his character that in the stress and devastation of war, and after being exposed to so many women for so long and so far from his wife, that's the worst thing he did. Peg would probably be hurt....but it seems like they may have had a strong enough connection that she got over it pretty fast. Now me...I'd be wondering if that were indeed all that happened, but call me paranoid I guess!

I agree....I just can't picture him settling down and sticking faithful to one person.

Default BJs affair

Well there were two instances. The first was in season 5 called "Hanky Panky" and it was with Nurse Donovan played by Ann Sweeney. In this episode, it was more than a kiss....while we don't see it, we do see it discussed with Hawkeye after the fact.

The second one with Susan St. James was in Season 8 called "War Co-Respondent" and in that one, I really believe BJ had a stronger connection to this woman than Nurse Donovan. However, it is very obvious that he didn't want to go there again and didn't pursue anything which I thought was kind of a cool continuity thing. I think there is a like that Hawkeye says in this one like "You've been down this road before".

I could just see him telling Peg about the first one and her bouncing that little jar of dirt off his head that she sent to him when they built their house. Then I could hear him say "BUT....it happened again 3 seasons later and I didn't do anything!" Thats when the spam would really hit the fan.

Happy New Year...
