Default I noticed that Esther Rolle's hair had a little spot..

In the later seasons, I noticed that there was a little white hair spot in that mini fro she had. Kind of interesting, though.

Well, she was getting older in those later seasons and all people get gray hair, white hair, etc. Very normal 88.

I thought that she always had that on both "Maude" and "Good Times".

In Driving Miss Daisy, her hair went completely grey. I always thought it was interesting as to how different she was in the 70s and later in 1989.

So many people are down on Esther's hair. I like the afro look she had. On the episode of Rent Party when Florida, Wilona, and Thelma did the Supremes Stop In the Name of Love and she had on a wig I can tell Esther was uncomfortable with the look. I like it in in season 4 when grew her afro out. It gave her a more mature look. I like the fro look on Esther than those wigs that Isabel Sanford had on The Jeffersons. Some of the wigs she had on there was obvious that she was wearing one.

Louise's hair (wigs) on the Jeffersons in the early seasons, were horrendous! Being from the 70's though, that was the style unfortunately. Black females especially had it hard wearing wigs. They were not made properly it seems. Nowadays, with extensions and so forth, the females are fooling the guys with the fake hair...not us women though.

The last two seasons of the Jeffersons Isabel's wigs were better and looked more real.

Again, I was glad that Esther Rolle did not resort to wearing wigs to enhance her look on Good Times since that shows was on during the 70s only and did not go into the 80s. She had a natural beauty that was from the inside out.

I know Esther Rolle was older than the actor playing James, who was bald in real life. I mean, he had the same wig like Red Foxx and he was bald, too.

Question

I was searching in vain for a pic of her taking over Hattie McDaniel's role, "Mammy" as her last role in "Scarlett."

Was she gray-haired there?

Just recalled a line from a TV Guide interview she had, shortly after Good Times went onair. She told the interviewer that when she was young, she was thin, and her nickname had been
"Esther Rolle, the Fishing Pole." That she walks around her apartment nude, years later and plumper, and chuckling at that. At least, that's how the writer put it.
