No, I believe Gordon Page Jr is still missing. Over 15 years now he has been missing. However I still believe to this day that he is still alive somewhere. I believe I read somewhere that someone thought they saw him in San Francisco a couple of years ago.

In my mind it is possible, even probable that he was picked up somewhere along the way and perhaps transported to some sort of mental health clinic or hospital facility where he remains to this day classified as an "unknown" or "John Doe". But I think that if he managed to fall in with some group of people who might have been able to get him some help then yeah, I see him being still very much alive to this day. Although the flip side of that I would say I cannot see Gordon Page Jr. surviving very long on his own or left to his own devices, he would have to have recieved some type of support somewhere.

This case really touched me for some reason. I really do think he's out there, and I hope he's somewhere where he's getting help.

Easily one of the most heartbreaking cases for me, and probably the one that happened closest to where I live (I have been to Grand Rapids before, perhaps not to the same location, but the same city) I've got a very bad feeling somebody tagged Gordon as vulnerable due to his condition and seized on it. I still hope that Gordon has found help somewhere, I do think it's very possible. I would imagine if he has found help that he wouldn't be too awfully far from Grand Rapids, Michigan. San Fran seems like a bit of a stretch. He would have almost certainly have had to hitchhike, and i would imagine somebody would have recognized him if he made that long journey. Plus, I would hope that nobody would take him that far if they realized his condition. It would be really nice if Gordon could be reunited with his family.

Also, as I said in another post, if he is high-functioning, he might have been able to survive on his own maybe picking up manual labor. But why wouldn't he have just stated he wanted to go to Florida or Texas (to visit his younger brother away at college), and someone pick up on that? My theory would be something like he was just trying to reunite with his family. Sad, sad case, being autistic myself....... I can only hope he's alive and well somewhere or if he succumbed to the elements, that he's in a good place. |

No kidding. When I think of the guilt that his father clearly showed in the UM segment, I just want to weep. He had no way of knowing that Gordon was going to run away from the facility, but you can see that he totally blames himself for the disappearance of his son.

this case was soo sad.... It is just so cruel that there is no closure for the parents. Most importantly frustrating that no leads seem to have appeared over the years

Well I believe I heard somewhere else that 6 weeks after he disappeared some baseball cards of Gordy's were found under a highway overpass and were arranged in the order of his favorite players. I do not know if that story is true or if anyone has heard that. Yes it was very obvious his dad felt guilty and it was sad. I just remember Gordy Sr saying how he wishes he would have just opened the door and let him get in and drive to Florida without looking back.

Sadly, I don't think he is alive. He would have somehow, someway contacted his family.

Somewhere I read (in all likelihood in a previous UM thread on this case) that a person was working at a fitness club near the Fishermen's Wharf area of San Fran and saw a person working out who was tall and had red hair. The employee got a strong feeling that he/she should take specific note of the person working out. Several days later while working, an older man came in and approached the employee. He indicated his name was Gordon Page Sr. and his son was missing. The picture he showed was the same person who had been working out days earlier. The employee gave the man the info, but because the person working out was not a regular member, they had no info on him. The employee never saw the man (presumably Gordie Page) in the facility again.
Maybe someone can post the thread. |

For all intents and purposes, though, I hope it's true.
