Great news!!!
But I don't really like the cover pic from the season 5 DVD set. That shot of Cybill looks like a pic from around the time of The Cybill Show, not Moonlighting.
Does anyone remember that photo?

It's a very deceptive picture. Except for possibly half of the first episode, they aren't together to speak of during the fifth season. As such, they look much too happy.

But most of the sets have had inaccurate pictures, so I guess it figures.

Agreed. It's not a very good picture. I'm guessing they pasted them together because I've never seen it before. I hope that's not a bad omen for the DVDs. They're very vague about the commentaries too.

My first impression was that David's picture is a still from the shoot for "Money Talks."

In the entire fifth season that I can think of, they never show up looking like that together.

I can only think that they were trying to open it up to people who have never seen the show before, because it can't possibly fool the older fans.

But don't get me started on that...

The picture is promotional material from the Cybill show. I really don't like this cover!

And about the "extras".....what screen tests? We already saw Bruce's and unless I am wrong, Cybill did not need to test for the show.

OMG, that cover is atrocious!!!! I mean, the color of the box is nice and the moon is cute. But, oh, that picture! It's just awful. Who came up w/ that idea?

I am thrilled that season 5 is coming out though. Thanks for posting the info.

On the bright side, at least we will soon have the complete series.

yes the cover is absolutely horrible. Who puts these covers together? Believe me i am thrilled that season 5 is coming out on dvd. Regardless of how i feel about the last few episodes(YUCK) i still wanted to have a full set of my favorite tv show. And Diane is right about the screen tests. What are these new ones that no one knows about? Ugh i wonder who will do commentaries together. Should i hope for B/C together? Yeah right. Oh well still happy for season 5 dvds!

Bruce and Cybill did a screen test together for the network suits. As you all know, the ABC execs were not sold on Bruce so Cybill agreed to screentest with him. I discussed this in my interview with director Robert Butler. Maybe this is the screentest we will finally be seeing. It would certainly help DVD sales for Season 5! Here's a portion of that interview:

http://moonlighting21.com/issue11/ro...erview_pt1.pdf

DM: Can you talk about
directing Bruce’s screen test
and your initial impression of
him? I mean, you were there
during the audition process,
correct?
RB:Yes, yes. We had met him once in
New York and the guys, Glenn and others,
were impressed. I didn’t really
remember him and then there was a
second
interview here on the coast. He was
out here on someone else's dime, interviewing
for something else, and he came
in and just took over. Took charge of the
reading powerfully, amusingly. He had
nothing to lose and just came on strong.
Walked around the room as though he
owned the furniture. It was great and he
scored like mad! We adored him. Glenn
had liked him all along and he was a
home run for all of us. We took Bruce to
the network and fifteen, eighteen people
adored him and he was a home run there
too, except the boss. Lew Erlicht was a
very good, smart executive at ABC. He
said, "Okay, everybody in this room
adores this guy and I don’t get it, so what
we have to do is prove me wrong!" Very
good leadership. And he said, "Here’s
how we do that. We shoot a little test and
poll a test audience and see what the hell
happens." So we said, "Ok, great." Well,
we didn’t do no little test. We mounted
a three scene series with Cybill. We got
some nice sets, shot this nice three-scene
test with Bruce and Cybill and showed it,
and "Bingo!" It went through the sky.

Lew Erlicht acquiesced, and that’s the
Bruce Willis story.
DM: Yes, because on the
pilot DVD, they show a
screen test but it’s not with
Cybill. They show it with
another actress.
RB: That would be the videotape test
done in New York probably. I don’t
think he was video taped here but routinely
in New York, as you know, they
put actors on to tape. I think it was
Bruce’s second piece of work on film.
He was on Miami Vice as a guest star
and as we were shooting the pilot we
broke for awhile so we could watch a
lot of the Miami Vice.

Hi All, Go back and listen to the commentary for the pilot during the bar scene. They mention that this scene was used as the screen test. They also commented about how the screen test version was better than the pilot version. I'm only speculating that this is the dvd extra, but I hope I'm correct.

Oh No

Yick That is a terrible cover for the fifth episode. I will never figure out why all those terrific photos of them were taken to promo the fifth season. I am glad those photos exist though, as they are beautiful They should have used one of the ones of them wrapped around each other but looking sad or something in my humble opinion.
Anywho...I am really happy that we are sure the last season will be available to us for purchase, so I can complete my collection of dvd's. I am afraid that when I buy it I will watch the "scary" eps though and put myself in some kind of irreversible funk

Okay!!! I have thought on it and I would have used the cover from season four's dvd on season five instead. And used a different pic for season four's dvd. No real compaint with covers for one and two or three seasons. Although them being switched on season three's is annoying.

That cover is uuuuuuugly! And clearly photo-shopped even to an inexperienced eye. She looks about 15 years older than him, which stands to reason since his photo is from S2 and hers is from--what?--last Thursday?!? I don't know guys, if a picture is worth a 1,000 words.... I'd start preparing myself for some serious disappointment for the S5 extras.

Have they used any of the Liebowitz photos on past DVD covers? Anybody remember? If so, why oh why, didn't they spring for another one of those beauties... as opposed to this nightmare.

Sorry to be so negative, but it feels like watching Lunar Eclipse all over again.
