Default For the want of an "official" bigography...

....you might want to read her father's autobiography, "Make Room For Danny". He tells a lot about her youth, the beginning of her career, and what she did for him when agreed to star in "THE PRACTICE" in the mid-'70s. The most memorable line in the book, as far as Marlo is involved, is when she finally moved out of her parents' home and into her own apartment, only to call "Daddy" and inform him that her place was infested with ants. Danny immediately yelled to his wife, "Rosie, 'Miss Independence' has ants!!".

Has she ever responded to that other book?

I would love to see a REAL biography about Marlo Thomas. Everyone has an opinion, but from what I've heard she is NOT a nice person. I've heard she's very selfish and looks down on people. I'm sure she is a spoiled brat. Her father probably did everything in his power to make sure his children didn't want for anything. He seemed very giving(although he had demons of his own). Allegedly Marlo's mom was obnoxious too. Bottom line, I've never read anything flattering about her but who do you believe, right? I'd like think Danny thomas had a heart of gold, especially with his creation of St .Jude's hospital.

Marlo was very nice the time I met her when her book came out a couple of years ago. Where other people at B&N would only sign the book and not let you take pictures, Marlo not only posed for a picture with me, but also signed the booklet to one of the "That Girl" DVDs.

Very nice! Glad she's nice to fans. Perhaps she's different around people in the business. I'm sure, being a strong woman(especially in the 60's) she may have been perceived as a BI***. Even in an article I have about Ted Bessell and his annulment it said (not verbatim) Marlo, who is known to be difficult to work with... It also said that Ted would sometimes have to discuss things if he felt a scene or line should go a different way. He would have to be tough but she respected him. I always enjoyed watching Danny Thomas, he seemed so sweet. The ep. where he meets Andy Griffith is teriffic!

This. Moreso since it was the '60s and many people weren't used to a woman in power, or at least one who knew what she wanted. As a Dusty Springfield fan, I know these stories quite well.
