Eddie Murphy Splits With Girlfriend, Doubts Baby's Paternity - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Not only has Eddie Murphy split with his ex-Spice Girl girlfriend, but now he's not even certain if he's the father of her unborn child.

The "Shrek" actor caught a reporter by surprise when he announced his doubts on a Dutch TV show over the weekend when he was questioned about how happy he was with the pregnant Melanie Brown.

According to TMZ.com, Murphy replied, "You're being presumptuous, because we're not together anymore. And I don't know whose child that is, until it comes out and has a blood test. You shouldn't jump to conclusions, sir."

Murphy finialized his divorce from his wife Nicole Mitchell Murphy in April, and began dating the artist formerly known as Scary Spice in June. In October, TMZ reported that Brown was four months pregnant with Eddie Murphy's child. At the time, rumor had it that the couple was planning on marrying in November, which obviously has come and gone.

Murphy already has six children: Bria, Myles, Shane, Zola Ivy and Bella Zahra with his ex-wife and his son Christian from a previous relationship. Brown is the mother of 7-year-old Phoenix Chi from another relationship as well.

In other Eddie Murphy news, the comedian told "Extra" that he was surprised that the Michael Richards racist rant blew up in the media.

"Back in the old days in comedy clubs, you could do anything on stage," he says. "I'm not saying what the guy said was cool, but in the old days you would've never saw that on the news."

Murphy, 45, is already getting Oscar buzz for his role in the big-screen adaptation of the Broadway musical "Dreamgirls," which opens Friday, Dec. 15, co-starring Beyonce Knowles and Jamie Foxx. His upcoming films include "Norbit" and "Shrek the Third."

Brown, 31, also has a big-screen credit, the oh so memorable "Spice World."
