I am new at this, so bear with me. I was wondering if anyone has a copy (or knows if any such thing exists) of the movie that Eve Plumb made ... "Dawn". I believe that was the title of it, it was about a teenage prositute. My sisters and I are "debating" certain points of this movie, and it is hard to prove anything since we can't find anything about it. Any information you have would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, and welcome to Sitcoms Online... I see this is your first post...
The movie you're thinking of is called "Dawn: Portrait of a Teenage Runaway". This was a TV-movie originally aired in 1976. Summary from IMDB: "15 year old Dawn runs away from what she feels is an intolerable home life. In the big city, she ends up turning to prostitution when she is unable to get a job due to her age. Life at home was never this bad." I remember very well when this movie was first broadcast... I think it got pretty good ratings... Eve later reprised the role in another TV movie (which I've not seen) called "Alexander: The Other Side of Dawn", made in 1977. This was about a male runaway who was a friend of "Dawn"... I don't really remember this coming on TV at that time, but as much as I loved Eve Plumb, I wouldn't have watched it anyway because of the subject matter, which did not interest me in the least. I haven't seen anything to indicate that "Dawn" is available on VHS or DVD... Amazon.com sells the Novel upon which the film was based , but does not list it in any video form. From:http://www.vh1.com/movies/movie/85056/plot.jhtml Dalene Young's exploitive teleplay for Dawn: Portrait of a Teenage Runaway occasionally lands upon a profundity or two. Eve Plumb stars as Dawn, who leaves home at fifteen for the glamour of LA. Friendless, she is taken in by the smooth line of Bo Hopkins, who offers to be her protector. Before long, Dawn has become a streetwalker, with Hopkins taking a sizeable chunk of her earnings. She finds true friendship in the form of another runaway, male hustler Alex (Leigh J. McClosky)--whose own story would be delineated in a 1977 sequel, Alex: The Other Side of Dawn. Having learned a lesson with its controversial airing of Born Innocent, NBC preceded the September 27, 1976 premiere of Dawn: Portrait of a Teenage Runaway with a "parental discretion" disclaimer. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide |
