Default Do you think Florida acted a bit too hostile...

towards the kids??? They were worried about her because she was out until 2am, something she never does and Florida told them, "If you don't like it, too bad."

I think she was. Seeing the type of area they lived in, the kids did have a reason to be concerned.

Exactly, I understand in a way, she was declaring her independance, but 2am is really late. The kids had a right to be worried and Florida came down on them.

It really has nothing to do with being 18. The kids were worried. Florida never cruised the bar scene. The least she could've done was call.

I so agree with you. Worrying abt your mother doesn't end when you reach 18. I know when I was out dating I always let my kids know what time I will be home and/or that I was alright. At those times I always had a pager, so they could reach me. Florida wasn't reachable. Only she had the way to communicate with her family. All that talk abt how dangerous the ghetto was etc. was sure hypocritical on Florida's part when she herself didn't let her kids know she was ok.

Florida was a grown woman and she didn't have to answer to anybody. Ben could have driven Florida home or walked her home. She had been living in that neighborhood for over 20 years, she knew the criminals and they knew her.

The point Florida was trying to make was, the Kids all of a sudden was concerned about her once she had a outdoor life like they already had. So that's why she said

"I had a Good Time Tonight, and I going out Again, and you don't like it, TOUGH CHITLINS"-LOL

Her kids were always concerned for her. They showed it during that episode when Florida was moody and hit Michael. She left and they wondered where she was at. There are other times they showed their concern. Remember how they even cancelled their plans for the evening because they didn't want her home alone. That was showing their concern. Most kids wouldn't give a rat's ass if their mom was home alone, they would go out with their friends. Florida made it seem like they didn't want her to go out. That was not it. They just wanted to know THAT SHE WAS OK. THAT SHE WAS ALIVE. Even J.J. said he knew there had to be a phone at the place she was at, she could have called. Simple as that.

If he was expressing himself like James, it was because he WAS JAMES' SON. He wasn't trying to talk to her like a husband. A son grows up, chances are he is going to behave like his father.

I meant to say he was talking to her like he was her DAD instead of a concerned son

Exactly and I think that he was joking and giving Flo a little pay back for all the times she had said it to the kids.
